Story
The Panhandle was a lonely purple range land, unfenced, and wind swept. Bill Smith, cattleman, threw up a cabin and looked at the future with hopeful eyes. One day while plowing almost out of sight of his little home - which that morning he had left apprehensively owing to an impending event - he espied his wife Margaret coming along the edge of the plowed field. She had brought his lunch this day, despite his order to the contrary.

I'd almost been middleweight champion of the world. But then some doctors told me my heart was no good -from now on everything must be slow and easy; no emotion. Keep your heart locked up. Smile at everything. Play poker all your life. That was just how I happened to go wrong. I found out that if I worked out slowly, I could still ride a horse, even climb a mountain. All I had to watch were my nerves. Every time I got a nerve shock, my heart went smash.

The mining certificates granting ownership of the Christabel mine that Edward Dugan inherited from his father had a face value of $250,000, but the mine itself had been declared worthless. Still, Henry Christian, the man that had sold them to Dugan's father, said he'd buy them back for $1,500.
Penniless, Dugan decided to walk the 3,000 miles from his home in Boston to the mine in the Southwest to check out the offer. But along the way he meets a travel companion named Red. Red knows Christian by reputation, and by another name: Bonanza Chris.

And it falls to big Dave Reagan, considered little better than a half-wit in that part of the range, to discover the monster held fast in two of his traps. Something in the fearless animal's eyes keeps young Dave from killing the wolf. Instead Dave releases Gray Cloud, who is unable to walk, and rescues him from a prairie fire that threatens them both. Dave brings Gray Cloud home and chains him in a shed that he uses as a blacksmith shop.

A great mystery in the west
Would you consider the audio edition of The Golden Cat to be better than the print version?
I don't have time to read books, but I am sure that the audio is far more interesting than my imagination would allow,
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I must admit that the storyline had me interested to the point I blew thru this book alittle faster than I wanted, That means it ended too soon and I wanted more
What does Jeff Harding bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
What can I say only that Mr. Harding is a true professional who brings all the characters to life. I enjoyed his read and I look forward to listening to more of his works
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Several some on the light side others on the serious side
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed the book, it was well written mystery and the reader was great

Gunman's Reckoning is the story of a drifter who is given the job of righting a great wrong. In the midst of carrying out his task, he finds out that he was not told the entire truth. He continues anyway, because in doing the job, he has stumbled on the answer to a long quest of his own. Story
He swept down from the north like a cold blast from hell. His name was Red Pierre and he was riding a vengeance trail.
They said the man he hunted couldn't be beat. But six years of riding outlaw with a wolf-pack left him with a burning hate and a taste for blood.
Now he was going to get the man who shot his father. But he'd need more than hate and a gun. What he really needed was the help of a good woman.

Oakley Hall's legendary Warlock revisits and reworks the traditional conventions of the Western to present a raw, funny, hypnotic, ultimately devastating picture of American unreality. First published in the 1950s, at the height of the McCarthy era, Warlock is not only one of the most original and entertaining of modern American novels but a lasting contribution to American fiction.
