Decent Storyline Annoying FMC

Overall enjoyed the story but could not stand the female main character. She was incredibly annoying, whiney, took ZERO accountability for anything. She complained about training, she complained about being lied to and then turned right around and did the same thing, she acts shocked that she can’t instantly trust a guy she just met that is notoriously ruthless. This is this first time I have ever actively hated the female lead in a book. Blackcoat was a great character and ultimately saved the book - although I don’t realistically think his character would have wanted to be with the FMC but whatever. Ultimately not the best faerie court book I’ve read but not the worst either. It was good enough that I wanted to finish it but not good enough that I wanted more.

Dark Fae, Slow Burn, Strong Finish

The Gold Weaver Series by Zora Storm delivers a rich dark fae world with well-developed magic systems and dangerous, immersive realms. The characters feel relatable, which grounds the story nicely despite the high-stakes setting. Add in a satisfying slow-burn romance and strong narration, and it makes for an engaging listen.

As a box set, the series builds effectively from one book to the next, leading to a cohesive and satisfying conclusion.

Excellent Trilogy!

The Gold Weaver series is a set of three books on audio and another way of enjoying this excellent dark fantasy romance of enemies to lovers, magic, Fae, mystery, adventure, secrets, spice, and passion.
The writing is captivating and with this audio narration by Ash Kingsley the complexities, intrigues and vast scope of the trilogy comes to life in an adult bedtime story that is told without loosing any of the vibrancy that flows through each book.
A not to be missed listen!

One of my fave series, but the audio fell short.

I went into this audiobook already knowing I loved The Gold Weaver Series by Zara Storm. I've read every book in the series, and it remains one of my favorite fantasy romances. So this review is really a tale of two experiences: the incredible story itself and the audiobook narration.

First, the series deserves every bit of praise I can give it. Zara Storm has created a rich, magical world filled with political intrigue, dangerous fae, heartbreaking betrayals, and mysteries that had me questioning everything. Every time I thought I had the answers, another twist would completely change the game.

Ruskin remains one of my all-time favorite fantasy MMCs. He's layered, compelling, morally gray in all the right ways, and his relationship with Eleanor evolves beautifully throughout the series. Their chemistry, the tension, the sacrifices—they all felt earned.

I also love Zara's writing style. Her world is immersive enough that, even when she leaves some of the finer details to the imagination, I never struggled to picture the spaces between the words. If anything, I occasionally wished for just a little more descriptive detail, but it never took away from how invested I became in the story.

In fact, this series helped pull me out of one of my biggest reading slumps, and I'll always appreciate it for that.

Unfortunately, the audiobook itself just wasn't for me.

Since I already knew and adored the story, I expected listening to feel effortless. Instead, I found myself struggling to stay engaged. The narration simply didn't capture the emotional weight, tension, or magic the way I'd imagined while reading. This is, of course, entirely subjective—what doesn't work for one listener may work perfectly for another—but I personally found myself wishing I'd picked up the physical book again instead.

If you're trying to decide between reading and listening, I'd wholeheartedly recommend experiencing the story. Whether the audiobook works for you will come down to personal preference, but the series itself is absolutely worth your time.

If you love dark fae fantasy, slow-burn romance, court intrigue, cursed magic, and mysteries that keep unfolding until the very end, The Gold Weaver Series is one I will continue recommending again and again.

Stellar Series

I love this entire series, from the first page to the last it was pure perfection. This trilogy blends a retelling of the Rumpelstiltskin fairy tale with the twist of Fae courts, Seelie and Unseelie, and consequences of magic and curses. I loved how each book had it's own plot but they wove together to create this overarching plot line that was for lack of a better word stunning. Throughout the books we continue to see this character development of the main characters, Eleanor and Ruskin. Plus their chemistry was sizzling. While I loved the main characters, I thrilled that side characters carried through out the books and we were able to follow those subplot lines. Hands down this was one of my favorite series.

Ash Kingsley does a spectacular job narrating this series. Her narration style was a perfect fit for this book, she is able to not only able to capture the essence of Eleanor, but she brings the entire cast of characters to life. I love the way that she is able to convey the different characters’ personalities and draws the listeners in. Listening to this series was addicting and a constant battle of I’ll just listen one more chapter. Wish I could give this book 6 out of 5 stars.
