Publisher's summary

It's always been just Kate and her mom - and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family, and the fear her mother won't live past the fall.

Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld - and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.

Kate is sure he's crazy - until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess.

I was impressed until the end...

I've always loved romances, and this one was sweet. I forgave the awful representation of the Greek gods, noting it as creative license.

Then I got to the end...

All the redeeming sweetness of the novel was washed away when it was revealed that even the poor girl's mother was in on her mass manipulation. She was basically bread to replace her sister... and put through psychological Hell for it.

The whole series was

I don't know if I can judge the series as accurately as possible due to the fact it is not as original as I would have wanted it to be. I just finish reading a book very similar and much better than this series. I think 3 stars overall for the whole series is right to me personally. Mostly because was slightly disappointed in the series I feel that the author could have offered more and not the in between stories I think it could have ended better. this is not a series I would have wasted a whole credit on I probably would have bought it when it was on sale.

3rd Time Through

I loved it, well performed, and a very interesting storyline. I've read this book at least 2 times myself and now again by listening to audible. I truly love this series.

Great Series, Great Narrator

I've read this series before and its one of my favorite series. I was excited to see it on Audible as I'm new here and wanted to start off with a favorite read. The narrator is perfect! Great pace, very animated in changing up her voice for the various characters, speaks very clearly. I'm excited to continue on with the series, and hope to see more with Brittany Pressley as the narrator!

The First One is the Best One

What did you love best about The Goddess Test?

I listened to the audio book of this one and I quite enjoyed it! This is a fun YA novel that I became instantly hooked on and had to listen to it everywhere-in the car, at work, while doing the dishes, or even just laying in bed when I should have been sleeping.

I really enjoyed the way the author mixed in the Greek mythology and made it more modernized, the story was a really fun tale to follow and I got through the whole thing in only a day or two, which meant I instantly had to eat up all of the other books in the series because I was so involved in the interactions between Kate and all of the other characters that I had to know what happened with them as I went forward.

Really a 2.5 star!

I've had my eye on this series for a while now and patiently waited for it to hit audible so when it did I snatched it up. First, the synopsis and cover grabbed my attention. I thought we would have this young girl struggling through grizzly unthinkable situations in order to save her mom, wrong! There are some bad things that happen to the main character (Kate) but the tests she was administered were ones she didn't even know she was taking. I was really looking for a nice angsty gritty read but got an overly super sappy sweet read instead.
The narrator did a really good job with the characters, but some parts in this book are just way too unbelievable for a person to go through what Kate went through and react the way she did to the situation and the characters that treated her a certain way, I just couldn't buy into the believability of the story. I know some people have said they have issues with the mythology being wrong and getting facts wrong but honestly it didn't bother me, I don't have a good knowledge base in mythology to know better anyway.
So my opinion is, it's a nice easy laid back read, don't get your hopes up for a bunch of ups and downs, it was mainly a very constant storyline, I never really felt any connection, emotion or believability towards any of the characters. That being said, I will try the next book ONLY because I bought this on the buy 3 for 2 sale and feel I should get my $$ worth.
HAPPY LISTENING!!!

If you could sum up The Goddess Test in three words, what would they be?

Secrets, Olympians, Love

Well I would have to say the way you felt like you knew what was going on but in the end started to second guess yourself. It kept me on my toes.

She read with emotion.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The beginning in front of the river when she had to decide to jump in or not.

Any additional comments?

At first I thought I would only kind of enjoy the story, but now I cant wait to get through the rest of them.
