Interesting YA story

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this YA dystopic, sci-fi story of a fight to survive in an inhospitable world where the controlling AI wants to destroy everything that doesn’t live up to it’s standards. I found the concept of this world to be fascinating, a bit reminiscent of a ya version of the Matrix meets Mad Max. The plot is not overtly complex but it still has enough intrigue, twists, and action to keep your attention. The narration in the audiobook brought the characters to life, you could feel Lib’s confusion, indecision and frustration, Raj’s hate of being away from the Norm, Skye’s uncertainty and her need for friendship, and Wolf’s struggle over his attraction to Lib vs his obligation to put the Clan’s needs first. The romantic aspect of the story was a bit strained in its development and it would have been better if Wolf’s character had been explored a bit more so that the reader could have seen more depth and a softer side to him. There were some glimmers of a love triangle in the story and I was happy the author didn’t head in that direction, as that has been flogged to death in so many other ya books. Bird’s character was fascinating and contradictory. Her struggle to interpret her visions caused her to flip back and forth between being friend and foe; it kept her interesting and unpredictable. I liked the slow development of Lib’s character as she went from having no memories of her past, to understanding who she is and making her own decisions as to what road her life will take. Overall, I enjoyed this interesting audiobook and will look forward to hearing the others in the series. I received this audiobook as a gift from the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way influenced my opinion or my review.

A dystopian-technothriller-sci-fi mashup

Lib is a glitch, though we don't really find out what glitches are until about halfway through the book -- you can tell that they are important. Lib also can't remember anything. They suspect a total memory wipe. She starts to remember bits and pieces and will soon find out just what part she will play in helping or hurting society.

When I first picked up Glitch, I genuinely wasn't sure what I was getting into. Sometimes I like to just skim the synopsis of a book because reading it beginning to end can really ruin the surprises and overall feel of a book. I knew that this was going to be something like a dystopian technothriller book, but it was so much more. There are elements in this book for readers who enjoy a vast number of genres. If you enjoyed the Hunger Games, you will like Lib and the dystopian world that she is thrown out into. If you like sci-fi, you'll enjoy the world itself and the other side of the wall. Thriller and technothriller fans -- wait until you find out what glitches are (or when she connects for the first time).

Honestly, the only reason that this book didn't get 5 stars was because it felt like it had a rushed ending/no ending at all. It was building up to this big reveal and it just seemed to leave the readers mid-cliffhanger. Sure, that's a great way to sell more of your second book, but some people will just walk away and never continue them.

Overall, The Glitch was a really interesting mashup of a ton of genres that I enjoy. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Lib, but by the end, I ended up liking her. The clan was also an interesting aspect to this. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the nomadic lifestyle and kind of ridiculous names, but by the end, I understood the reasoning and thought it was a nice touch.

The narration for The Glitch was done by Genevieve Kaplan who I thought did a really good job with Lib and telling her story.

.YA Dystopian Fantasy heaven !

What did you love best about The Glitch?

Lib wakes up in a desert ,barren land with hardly any memories and a deep feeling of fault and responsibility .The world she is in is a YA dystopian , sci-fi dream come true as is the story of Lib as we discover it throughout the book.Lib meets Sky who is a Glitch and lib is taken to Sky's clan.There she must decide who to go with Raj or Wolf . Raj wants to go his own way but with Wolf she has the security of the clan form the A.I.However things aren't what they seem with Lib as she remembers something that endangers her new friends.I really enjoyed watching Lib regain her memories and becoming a force to be reckoned with as the book goes on.This is an impressive story with many layers and a lot of depth.I am eager to read book 2 in this series. I hope Genevieve Kaplan narrates the next book also because we now know her as the voice of ,Lib,Bird,Sky,Wolf and so many other brilliant characters.Her narration was strong,moving and pulled she feelings from me with the depth she gave her performance .

Made me think of total recall + Logan's run.

Audio version.
This started a bit slow. But got better.
There were times when the narrative sounded monotone, times when it sounded like she was in a tunnel.
This audio book was given to me for free at my request from the publisher or author or narrator and I provided this unbiased review.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Action-packed, Easy-to-read, Great world building, Haunting, Original, Page-turner, Unpredictable, Wonderful characters.

This is a unique book. First, it is written in present tense. Second, it is about artificial intelligence. Neither of these interests me, but I was very interested in the dystopian aspect of this story. I am so glad I decided to try it. It was an incredible whirlwind story. I had to keep listening and find out what happened. The characters are strong and the plot kept pulling me back to the story (my silly kids get in my way of listening to books). It is a unique story blending cyberpunk and dystopia. It was very easy to see this story in my mind. I think the writing and use of first person only added to the strength of this story.

Dystopia is no reason to get depressed!

The Glitch is a fine example of dystopian science fiction that isn’t mopey and depressing. So the world as we know it fell apart. There is no reason is adopt pessimism as a lifestyle choice. They don’t live as long as people who are optimistic, anyhow. Lib had nothing going for her. She was stranded in some desert wasteland, outside from her techno utopian home, the NORM. She had no memories of her identity, but a head full of useful information. Her new buddies, the Tracker Clan don’t easily accept outsiders, either. Despite everything, she kept hope and tried to make her situation better.

I normally give a book four or five chapters to let the author find the groove and for me to pick up on it before I decide if finishing the story is worth my while. With The Glitch, I was hooked right away. This girl with no memories is discovering a post-apocalyptic world and I was there with her.

I think Finn covered an important theme for the Young Adult genre in loyalty and interpersonal relationships. As we millennials (I’m the oldest in the group but still count myself among their lot) depend more and more on social media to supplement our interpersonal communication, it can be easy to lose track of what is truly important in human relationships, trust and comradery. Our heroine is a great example of someone who will really be there for you. If the Glitches and Tracker Clan were the cookie parts of an Oreo, Lib would be the cream center.

The narrator’s voice was very easy on the ears. I dare say it is a pretty voice. I hope she keeps at the audiobook game.

Normally I’m preferential to third person limited point of view, but this first person adventure worked really well. The plot also covered everything needed to stand on its own two feet while also setting a larger stage for the series to play out on. I’m looking forward to the next installment!

Review "the Glitch "

“This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased." Great story in first person by Ramona Finn. She brings you from the mysterious opening through to the revelation. Genevieve Kaplan gives us a wonderful performance, making it easy to follow and feel the events and story.

Glued from the beginning!

This book starts with a disoriented young woman. She can't remember anything than she hears someone else and hurries to check out the situation and finds a young lady who appears to be harmed by a thing called s sentinal. She doesn't know what it is yet and instinctively saves the young ladies life. Soon she remembers who she is but doesn't yet know what to think about the strange harsh environment.

The story is fast paced and full of action as the main character Lib takes up with a hroup of rogues after learning she is a glitch. The world building is excellent, including the terminology. I felt like I was in the story. It switches from the Norm, a place where techs are and the AI controls. The glitches come from there after a single mistake. The rogues are humans who live in the harsh world outside the Norm.

This story is a sci-fi, a little dystopian, safe for all aged readers and several hours of enjoyment.

I recieved this book from the author for an honest review. Loved it! Hoping for a second book in the series.

What other book might you compare The Glitch to and why?

I believe those who liked "Skylark" by Meagan Spooner would enjoy this book too! It has similar story as far as I remember, mind you it has been 4 years since I read "Skylark", but I remember that main character first lived in enclosed world and got introduced to outside world.

The moment I realised there was tech involved :)

I believe in the audio file I received towards the end of third hour there was a repetition of good 5-ish min of the same science.
