REALLY GREAT SERIES

I read a lot of WW2 Holocaust novels. This series is at the top of my list. Each book is a story unto its self. I literally just finished and will start the last book as soon as I've written this review! I'm just so sad that it will be the last book in the series.

The story is sad, hopeful, full of intrigue and excitement, love and hatred, evil and goodness.

The narrator makes you feel that we are hearing the characters talk. The exception, which is the reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars, is the way the narrator reads the male characters voices. While she reads the female voices exactly as they would sound, she reads the male voices as a caricature. Granted, it is a female narrator, but i have listened to many audiobooks where the female narrator is able to portray the male characters realistically.

HOWEVER, this one issue is EASILY overlooked! I am excited to end this review so I can start the next book in the series!

Such Bravery!

I am amazed at the bravery Annagret and other characters do to to protect and try to make life better for the Jewish people during WWII. Well written story and I was on the edge of my seat worried for her safety, her friends, and those in harms way. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

Very original story

I really enjoyed the story and characters. Not sure why Stefan has a western cowboy accent. Good book though, looking forward to the next in the series.

Desperate times called for amazing measures!

Insight into life as a Jew is hard for me to swallow. I look for perspective often and as a German girl...My heart strings are plucked. How anyone could believe the dominant race theory is beyond me. What's more, love always conquers hate.
