Publisher's Summary

I haven't touched another person in three years.

That seems like it would be a difficult task, but it's not. Not anymore, thanks to the internet.

My anonymous clients spend thousands of dollars to watch me take my clothes off for the camera. What they want, I give. Their secrets, I keep.

Everything I tell them is a lie.

Open the door to this year's most shocking thriller.

Critic Reviews

"An incredible debut. Gritty, unique, primal, full of angst, oddly feminist, and right up my alley. The Girl in 6E deviates from formulaic romance to deliver something truly special and worthy of praise and attention. A dark soul like me isn't often surprised by controversy or taboo subject matter, but this book delivers and I'll be reading more A.R. Torre books in the future. Kudos!" (CJ Roberts, New York Times and USA Today best-selling author of The Dark Duet)
"Dark, edgy, and thrilling in a completely unexpected way." (Lisa Renee Jones, New York Times best-selling author of The Inside Out series")
"A.R. Torre's The Girl in 6E lifts the veil on the dark, erotic world of camping, but the book contains so many more surprises than that. At the novel's core, a tender heart beats, and the increasingly suspenseful pages fly by as its deepest secrets are revealed. This is a taut, edgy, thrill ride, powerfully gripping and impossible to turn away from." (David Bell, author of Never Come Back and Cemetery Girl)

Prepare to Be Flabbergasted

What an amazingly strange book. Perhaps one of the most intriguing and weird "heroines" of any book I've ever read. I bought this book because it was a daily deal on Audible. It caught my attention, though I can't say for sure why. The main character has not left her apartment or come in direct contact with another human in several years. Explaining why would spoil the story. But rather than shutting herself off from relationships, she has found unique ways to make connections and form "friendships" in her narrow little world. She makes her living, and a very good living, operating as a webcam sex worker, who also happens to be a virgin. She presents the details of her work in such a clinical way most of the time that she might as well be explaining her job as a nurse or a CPA.

The story evolves around the choice she makes to expose herself to the world, a step she thinks is extremely dangerous to others, in order to save another person and eventually, to have a personal relationship. By the end of the book you discover just how resourceful, brave and heroic she truly is.

The writing is tight, it moves quickly and I found myself unwilling to put it down. And while she is so clinical and matter of fact about her profession, there are a couple of topics that might make some people uncomfortable, but they are integral to the story and are what makes her the person she is and drives her to take what she considers a huge risk. The narration was excellent.

One of the best books I have read this year.

honest review

overall: this book had me, then dragged me into a shallow puddle, then left me there, then told me the same thing again again as I had damp clothes on for the next 5 hours.

pros:

there are seductive moments Torre captures very well. women have certain titillating features that slowly pull a man into her. she grabs at these features.

Torre plus the narrator capture Annie the best. everything about her feels realistic.

con: the story

after a short time the main characters constant speculation and pondering get annoying. it's like thoughts talking about thoughts. it's like she spends more time being self aware then actually doing anything. there were points were I was like OK we get it....STFU n move on.

maybe this story would be better read than heard.

knife? check! gun? check

Kind of ridiculous, but still a fun listen. I bought this title because it was in Audible's list: "The Next Gone Girl?", this was much more predictable than Gone Girl- still had a few surprises.

This book is listed in Mysteries & Thrillers> Suspense, but should probably be Mysteries & Thrillers > Suspense > Erotica. Will the "virgin" cyber sex star with serious psychological issues of her own become a hero? And will she find true love? And if all that happens- can she save herself?

Well I'm not telling :)

Amazing!

If you could sum up The Girl in 6E in three words, what would they be?

Crazy, sexy, cool.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Girl in 6E, of course. She's crazy/sexy/smart/beautiful and can handle a knife. Why else wouldn't I love her?

Have you listened to any of Jorjeana Marie’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Her voice was perfectly fitting and wonderful to listen to throughout.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!

Any additional comments?

Great job! Definitely looking for more by A.R. Torre.

Truly terrible.

Would you try another book from A.R. Torre and/or Jorjeana Marie?

A review for this book talked about the "unpredictable twists and turns." That reviewer must have read a different book entirely. The plot was utterly predictable. The "erotic" parts were gross and overly graphic. I'm no prude, but I just felt dirty listening to this as I ran errands etc.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jorjeana Marie?

She was fine, considering the material. Her pronunciation of "hands" and "heeeeands" and "cam" and "ceeeeeam" got under my skin.

Any additional comments?

Not an intelligent read, by any means. A few steps above "50 Shades."

So so bad

Wow this sounds like a screenplay to low budget porno . Easily the worst thing I've listened to this year and I listen to a bunch. Got it on the 4.95 rack and thankfully didn't use a credit!

Suspense novel that packs the heat and hotness

This is my first time...

To compliment the narrator first. She made the Girl protagonist, Jess/Deanna, come to life, leap out of the speakers live before my internal dilated pupils, dry mouth and accelerating heartbeat.

While certain aspects of this book appear to border on fantasy, and I would have liked to explore further the Girl's character, this book was fun, a frisky tryst from some of the heavier lit on the market, as suspenseful as today's typical fare in the genre and certainly MUCH more arousing.

Ms. Torre changed the derivation of her name to A.R. from Alessandra for this book, ostensibly so it would not be viewed as purely in the erotica genre (like her last several novels). This is not erotica, though I am guessing it has a number of the same elements. A.R. Torre has a bright future if she can continue the hard task of blending erotica into suspense. She undeniably has the special combination of writing talent, creativity and pure heat to deliver a blockbuster as good as or maybe better than Gillian Flynn's. She's well on her way.

Great read...

This book was extremely entertaining and very well put together! The book was a recommendation of an Audible.com representative and it did not disappoint. It would had gotten 5 stars all around if it had spent more time with the action aspect of it but all in all it was tremendously entertaining. I know some have put it down for some of the content but the content is necessary for the setup. I would've liked a resolution in the main area but maybe this leaves the door open for a sequel?

What does a modern day recluse look like?

Would you consider the audio edition of The Girl in 6E to be better than the print version?

I thought that the narrator did an outstanding job portraying the main character - I really felt like I knew her. I can't imagine reading "leave it, thank you" and getting the same feel of the character as I did from the narrator saying it

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main character was my favorite. She had quite a unique perspective and really kept me engaged with the story

What about Jorjeana Marie’s performance did you like?

Her inflection with the words made it better than I would have in reading it on my own

Any additional comments?

I will say that the book was fairly sexually explicit at times, though as long as you can handle a little bit of it I hope it does not make others think twice about choosing this book. The sexually explicit scenes are in the guise of character development and are really not the main focus of the book

A bit of a surprise...

This is a bit more graphic- both in the sexual aspect and the violence- than I had expected. (Apparently I should have looked up the author). However, if you can handle that I would definitely recommend. The story is interesting and is developed extremely well. Good choice in narration as well.
