Publisher's Summary

The Word Guild 2005 Canadian Christian Writing Awards Award of Merit in Personal Growth/Individual Category

In this profound exploration of Christian identity, psychologist and spiritual director David G. Benner illuminates the spirituality of self-discovery. He exposes the false selves that you may hide behind and calls you to discover the true self that emerges from your uniqueness in Christ.

Freeing you from illusions about yourself, Benner shows that self-understanding leads to the fulfillment of your God-given destiny and vocation.

Critic Reviews

"David Benner is a keen student of both God and human personhood. It is a rare kind of book that combines wisdom about faith and understanding about the self. This is that kind of book." (John Ortberg, author and pastor)

Truly Transformational

The reader’s voice is easy to listen to, as each sentence is full of depth and meaning for personal growth. Seeing and experiencing God’s love for me as I am uniquely created is a message that everyone can benefit from hearing and learning to live out. The book is not only profound but also gives practical application.

I've not read a more important book.

This book by David Benner is so profound and important, I will read it many times, we must know ourselves to see what we cling to that blocks us from knowing God and being who we are meant to be. He has a gift of explaining how to start this journey!

True transformation

The profound truth that I took away was: without truly understanding who you really are there is no place for transformation to begin.
