Patricia Campbell's life has never felt smaller. Her ambitious husband is too busy to give her a goodbye kiss in the morning, her kids have their own lives, her senile mother-in-law needs constant care, and she's always a step behind on thank-you notes and her endless list of chores. The one thing she has to look forward to is her book club, a close-knit group of Charleston women united by their love of true crime and paperback fiction. At these meetings they're as likely to talk about the Manson family as they are marriage, motherhood, and neighborhood gossip.

Story
Cassie McDowell’s life in 1980s Minnesota seems perfectly wholesome. She lives on a farm, loves school, and has a crush on the nicest boy in class. Yes, there are her parents’ strange parties and their parade of deviant guests, but she’s grown accustomed to them. All that changes when someone comes hunting in Lilydale. One by one, local boys go missing. One by one, they return changed - violent, moody, and withdrawn. What happened to them becomes the stuff of shocking rumors. The accusations of who’s responsible grow just as wild, and dangerous town secrets start to surface.

What do you wish for most? It's a question that Oswald, Sarah, and Millie think they know the answer to. Oswald wishes his summer wasn't so boring, Sarah wishes to be beautiful, and Millie wishes she could just disappear from the face of the earth. But in the twisted world of Five Nights at Freddy's, their hearts' deepest desires have an unexpected cost. In this volume, horror master Scott Cawthon spins three sinister novella-length stories from different corners of his series' canon.

“You know what people really need? Somebody who will listen hard and then find a way to tell them, ‘It’s not all your fault. It’s going to work out fine. Don’t give up.’” So advice columnist ‘Dear Lily’ Brown deeply believes. But Lily could write a letter to herself, asking what to do about an ex-husband who still wants her dating advice, how to redecorate the family home she’s kept exactly the same since her parents died tragically young, how to move on with her strangely becalmed life...and what to do when your wild-child estranged sister storms back into town.

Story
It's the summer before middle school, and 11-year-old Bug's best friend, Moira, has decided the two of them need to use the next few months to prepare. For Moira, this means figuring out the right clothes to wear, learning how to put on makeup, and deciding which boys are cuter in their yearbook photos than in real life. But none of this is all that appealing to Bug, who doesn't particularly want to spend more time trying to understand how to be a girl. Besides, there's something more important to worry about.

I have been on a quest to revisit my childhood reading favorites. When I was a child, I loved the Babysitters Club books. I devoured them. I read those, along with the Super Specials, Mysteries, Little Sister books, etc. In fact, I still have all of them to this day in paperback. They were such a big part of my love of reading, I could not part with them. So now that they have come out on Audiobook, I had to check them out. As it turns out, I am not too old to enjoy The Baby-sitters Club. It kind of feels like going home again.
The Ghost at Dawn's House is book 9 in the Baby-sitters Club series. In this book, Dawn has been hearing noises behind her walls. She ends up finding a secret passage that leads from the barn to a secret door in her bedroom. This book was pretty blah. Obviously, it turns out that a person has been causing the noises and such, however, there are a few things that are unexplained and they are just left so we don't get closure.
This book is a fairly quick listen and is only 3 hours and 10 minutes. The narrator for this book talked very slowly. I had to speed it up significantly just to listen at what I consider to be a normal speed.
My love for these books and the nostalgia is still strong but definitely heading toward the downward slope. I will take a break to read another book or two and then come back to this series for book 10.

I love secret passages.
This is one that I loved as a kid and enjoyed again.
It's funny and so true to how teenagers react to ghost stories. I like a good ghost mystery and I love secret passages.
I also really like the narrator's voice for Dawn. My favorite so far.

Great Book!
I LOVE this book! Ann M Martin sure does have a way with words. I liked how the story went and it was a calming thing to listen to while I was drawing. Since quarantine, I have been listening to a lot of audible and It has been one thing that kept me sane. I suggest you start with the first book and progress through the series, don't read this one first!
