A fun ride, start to finish

Really enjoyed the characters, the overall story, and the (as always) solid narration by Mr. Joe Hempel. Hoping to hear more from this world...

Perfect starting point

I've never been a big fan of horror or thriller type books, but this was the first time I listened to a book like this and couldn't put it down. The pacing and drama and the mystery was all so perfect. if you're looking to get into the genre this Is the book for you.

Good pace, world building and characters!

Once The Ghost Mine started it didnt stop! Justin, the MC, starts digging for answers after a death in the mine. Corporate greed doesnt like this very much and what he finds lends us a great story. I look forward to book 2. Audio Version: This was the first book I have listened to with Joe Hempel as the narrator and I was not dissapointed!

What an incredible story!

The story of how Justin ended up being in the middle of this crazy story of glitchy tech, ghosts haunting a mine, and a corporate cover up is incredible. When the climax was happening I was on a whirlwind of emotions. could not guess where the next turn was going and it was such a great payoff. Highly recommend this book and looking for ward to the next in the trilogy!

An enjoyable blend of sci-fi and horror!

I’m more of a sci-fi listener, but this audiobook was a great blend of the two genres. Lots of action and a well-paced story, with great narration. Recommended!!

Ghost Mine

People keep dying at the mine but no one knows why and when Justin almost become one of the dead he can't stop trying to find out about or find the ghost that saved him, even when the company threatens to fire him. But soon he figures out it is way bigger than him, and the ghost is after something more , something much bloodier.

This is a really cool book, great characters, great setting, great action, great suspense, and twist and turn that will knock you off of your seat if your not careful. The audio performed by Joe Hempel Just gives it a bit more flare than you would get with the print version, he voice has you losing yourself in the story like you are there in the middle of the mine. I really liked this audiobook and hope you do too.

Fantastic sci-fi thriller. This book was exciting and highly entertaining.
While it started more like a psychological thriller with some creepy tech things going on here and there, it morphed into a sci-fi horror complete with all the gore. It was wonderful and reminded me a little of one of my favorite movies, Aliens. Great characters, best friends, love interests and bullies. This book has everything you would expect in a sci-fi thriller.
This is my first book narrated by Joe Hempel but it will not be my last. Joe’s performance was absolutely brilliant. So many characters, accents & emotions and he absolutely nailed them all.
This is book 1 and the adventure continues. I can’t wait to start book 2.
I highly recommend this book!

A Fun, Wild Ride

The action in this story begins right from the prologue. There is more scattered throughout the story, definitely enough to satisfy most listeners. The action isn’t gratuitous either; in each case smoothly fitting into the plot line and character arcs.

On a remote planet, over a thousand years from now, the intergalactic economy revolves around mining a special fuel. The mining is dangerous, as the substance is volatile and often difficult to reach. Two miners, Justin and Keyonte (spelling?), travel to a new mine in hopes of a big payday. They find well more than they were looking for as they make tough enemies, unlikely friends, and tangle with technology gone awry.

Tragedy strikes the mine, causing numerous casualties. It turns out that corporate espionage, subterfuge, a revenge plot, and the supernatural combine to reveal some surprising twists before true disaster strikes.

Joe Hempel has made a name for himself in the horror and science fiction genres, and he once again delivers a terrific performance. His professionalism and talent are on full display throughout this audiobook as he takes listeners beyond the pages and into a mental movie that is unforgettable.

Solid sci-fi horror

Going into it I was a little worried it was gonna be a fairly pg or pg13 style horror but as the story develops and the character growth happens, things start to get good and gory.

While a little predictable it’s a very engaging listen nonetheless. Definitely interested in checking out a sequel!

Slow start but wow!

Crisp dialogue between the main characters, a slowly unfolding dread and an all out 80s action movie feel toward the end!

Joe Hempel brings it all together in one of his better performances. Definitely going to check out book 2 when or if it comes out.
