A cozy whodunit with a twist

Will Scarlet be able to piece together clues to solve the murder before it‘s too late? Or will she find herself playing a dangerous game with a killer? When a bad case of writer‘s block prevents Scarlet Lane from wrapping up a successful detective series, she agrees to take a weekend trip to the mountains with her best friend, Quinn, to partake in an interactive game of murder. When they arrive at the secluded retreat of Mystery Ridge Lodge, Scarlet is hopeful that the distraction of vintage costumes and cozy ambiance will inspire her to write a satisfying conclusion.

But when the body discovered turns out to be really dead, the game takes a twisted leap from fiction into reality.

Meanwhile, as the guests discuss motives, means, and alibis, fingers soon point to Scarlet when they discover she’d been seen running from the scene of the crime. Suddenly, she realizes that to clear her name, she must team up with Quinn and put her investigative skills into action (which, up to this point, had only been used for solving mysteries in crime novels).

Join Scarlet and Quinn as they try to smoke out the killer in this twisty adventure…with an ending you won’t see coming.

This mystery within a mystery was twisty and fun! Narrator Lauren Peterson did an excellent job differentiating the many characters, keeping the listener leaning in for more.

Scarlett and Quinn spend the weekend at Mystery Ridge Lodge for a interactive murder mystery. Sounds like an fun escape from everyday to dress up as century-old characters and solve a pretend murder. That is, until the real murders start occurring! Scarlett has to investigate and clear her name before it’s too late. I absolutely loved the story, the classic Agatha Christie type atmosphere and the twists and turns. This is the first in the Scarlett Lane mystery series by K.Lee Brown and I can’t wait for the next one. The narration by Lauren Pedersen is outstanding. She creates unique voices for all the characters and brings them and the story to life.

Wow! What a rider that was. A special two for one deal. Two stories for the price of one! The ending left me gobsmacked but quite happy. The lodge story was a well crafted plan of deceits and red herrings that held me captive. But the ending had me roflmao. I didn't see it and fell hook line and sinker and enjoyed it all. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life. Well played!!

Stupendous

This was my first K Lee Brown book. I really enjoyed the intrigue, the steady pace, and the well-crafted plot. The characters are both interesting and mysterious. The story is fun and entertaining. Lauren Pedersen did a great job bringing the story and its atmosphere to life. I'm looking forward to listening to more in the series. I received a copy of this audiobook from AdoptAnAudiobook.com in exchange for an honest review. The gifting of it did not influence my opinion.

The Game Of Murder is the first book in the Scarlet Lane mysteries by K Lee Browne OMG if this is book one I cannot wait for the second book. They promised a twist and the twist is definitely twisty. like with most audiobooks I listen to the audio and read the Kindle as well. The story is narrated by Lauren Peterson and when the story begins Scarlet and her best friend Quinn are heading to the mystery Lodge on top of a Canadian mountain and Scarlet is starting to feel guilty because she left home after arguing with her beloved Dominic. she doesn’t have long to ponder how she left things because soon to avoid a moose they find themselves going off the mountain. Thankfully mountain man Henry is there with his big truck and helps them get back on the road with no problems. They finally make it to the lodge where they’re met by the handsome butler Jaffery. each guest has a roll to play in the mystery the only thing not fake is the great food chef Sebastian will be cooking this weekend and comfort food is definitely what they’ll need because it isn’t long before the first person is murdered. This is how Scarlet finds herself leading the investigation. she was supposed to be playing an art buyer, while Quinn was playing a roving reporter,, guest Jason and girlfriend Maddie was the mafia guy and his ditsie girlfriend, Sam and Eleanor a married couple were to be the doctor and the lounge singer, Truman is playing Professor Gladstone and last but not least is Gretchen Burke a very high class but very unlikable woman who wants to be the murder victim but instead they all become suspects. Murder isn’t the only mystery they’re all the songs they also want to know who is the elusive Mr. Whitmore the owner of the hotel not to mention the mini secrets some are hiding including the maid Jeffrey and a few others. This book was very very enjoyable I thought the characters were so very likable I loved Scarlet and Quinn and I did like Henry I couldn’t wait to see how it ended and was not at all prepared for the twist that was coming and trust me when I say it is whiplash inducing and yes this is a cozy mystery and yet it’s the best twist I’ve ever seen in a mystery. as I said I listened to the audiobook and read the Kindle and found the narrator who although she doesn’t do different voices you can absolutely tell whose voice she’s doing and when and I completely got used to her narration and really enjoyed her soothing tones throughout the book. I would definitely get the audiobook I found it was better, but I guess it all depends on what’s your favorite format. #AdoptAnAudiobook, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview, #TheGameOfMurder,#TheScarletLaneMysteries, #KLeeBrowne,
