Publisher's summary

If you loved American Horror Story 1984, you'll die for this new thriller mashup of Agatha Christie's The A.B.C. Murders and Riverdale in which a game turns deadly with a killer who picks his victims one by one, letter by letter.

Every year, the senior class at Lincoln High plays assassin. Lia Prince has been planning her strategy for years, and she's psyched that not only does she finally get to play, she's on a team with Devon Diaz. But this year, the game isn't any fun - it's real. Abby Ascher, Ben Barnard, and Cassidy Clarke have all turned up...dead. Can Lia stop the ABC killer before he reaches D?

Critic reviews

"Quick, deadly, and surprisingly entertaining." (Kirkus Reviews)

"Riverdale buffs will likely find much to enjoy in this teen-centric world where high school is a welcoming space, as long as you can actually survive it." (The Bulletin)

A high school game turns deadly

Lia's never been "the best" at anything but she's been preparing for her school's yearly game of 'Assassins' for years, hoping this will be what she's finally good at. I liked that Lia wasn't your average YA lead: she's not immediately likable, she doesn't see herself as 'special' or even 'gifted' in the ways these characters often are, but she's still striving for something. Her relationship with her BFF was lovely, too. I'll be working my way through the author's other books

it doesn’t deliver on the murder mystery

too much YA romance not enough thrills, tension, suspense, mystery - even with 3 murders it doesn’t feel like it delivers on the murder mystery part. If I hadn’t read the description, I might have enjoyed it more. So I was waiting forever for the 3 murders and subsequent teen sleuthing.
