Publisher's summary

A powerful wizard named Terek believes it is his destiny to rule the land. With luck and guile, he secures an ancient fortress from which to base his conquest. He raises an army and subjugates a dragon to his will. He is determined to let nothing stand in his way. Legendary heroes, who are neither alive, nor dead, gather champions from across the land to oppose the wizard and safeguard freedom.

A knight, sent on a quest by a desperate king, nears his goal of finding Terek’s brother, Arakon. It is believed that only Arakon has the power to challenge his brother. But once found, there is still the matter of a dangerous journey to return home. That journey will take his party through Darkwood, a forest guarded by undead creatures and elves aligned with Terek.

Another group of heroes is led by a crusader with a tragic past and an illusionist fighting to save her marriage. Their journey will take them through the barbaric hills of Taiga and the plains of Parthea. Unbeknownst, they realize too late that Terek has already endeared himself to the Partheans under the guise of a prophet sent by their god.

The Fourth Age chronicles the rise of Terek and the first part of the heroes’ journey to confront him. As events unfold, it becomes apparent that they are racing against time and impending disaster of which only Terek has knowledge. And while the heroes opposing the wizard are formidable, the key to victory may lie in the hands of a seventeen-year-old girl, who is still discovering her true past and the extent of the powers at her command.
