Another great addition to the series

Book 2 is just as engaging as the first one. Although Jamie is trying to straighten up her life with the 14 day life detox, things are getting more complicated and twisted.

It's a great listen and the only negative thing I can find is that it ends too soon! I'm looking forward to book 3!

I'm a bit disappointed about Patrick's involvement on her past financial distress. But at the same time I'm hoping things can improve regarding to Cameron.

The narrator did a fairly good job bringing the story to life.

The author is very talented and I'm looking forward to reading/listening more books from her.

I'm still hooked!

This was an interesting book. It is volume 2 in the series, and while I didn't find it as gripping as the first volume, it was still good, and it ended on a note dealing with the neighbor - I have to see the resolution in that situation! There was more profanity in this book than in the first (or maybe I was just more aware of it in this one). The book is filled with realistic characters and situations - things that the everyday reader can relate to. I listened to the Audible audio version and was pleased with the narration. The narrator sounds exactly as I would have pictured the character to sound. Overall, I am hooked on this series and have to find out what happens next.

Jamie's life continues...

Any additional comments?

After having read this nearly two months ago, I just finished listening to the audio version. My overall impression of this installment is very similar to the first. I do feel the dialogue is slightly less clunky than from book one, and there are perhaps a few more twists to hold the reader's attention for the serial format. We continue to see virtually every waking moment in Jamie's life - thus the pace borders on slow - but there is something about the vignette-like formatting that works considering the subject matter.

Overall, I still want to know what happens, but I haven't really been sucked in yet.

Regarding the narration: Again, this is a good debut work for the narrator. However, I personally simply *hate* when first person narration is done by different narrators from book to book. It's like changing how a main character looks on a whim for the next book. The narration is now a part of the fabric and changing it up like that... well... irritating. Unlike with the last narrator -- I didn't notice any background noise in this one... however, it did sound like she had a cold occasionally.

Soul Detox-part 2

Any additional comments?

Just as entertaining and enjoyable as the first installment. You are immediately drawn back into Jamie's story.

The 2nd installment in the 14 day detox is better than the first. The story is starting to take shape and you find out more details about Jamie and Cameron's past. Instead of simplifying her life, it seems to be getting more complicated. Just when she's starting to put part of her plan into action she is blindsided with a revelation that rocks her world.

Again, even thought the series is entertaining and I would at some point finish the series, for me I will wait until several installments are compiled into one volume before I purchase them
.
Maureen Hoff did a good job with the narration. Nice pleasant voice. Clearly spoken. She can also carry a tune when singing. Female character voices were good. Male character voices need some improving, Cameron sounds like he's 16. She was able to convey the emotions of the characters. The quality on the audio this time was much better.

Duplicity, intrigue and love

This second audiobook in the series is every bit as good as the first; immediately drawing you back into the captivating turmoil of Jamie's everyday life. Continuing her self imposed soul detox, Jamie's life seems to become more complex rather than detoxified. The tension, complications and intrigue is ramped up in this second volume, as deceit and betrayal dog her life. Her relationship with the sexy, dependable Cameron takes a surprising turn and, in a shocking plot twist, her budding relationship with Patrick seems to have been derailed. The creep factor, as well as Jamie's fear and insecurity, are also increased as another "underwear incidence" occurs. Her relationship with her daughter, Sarah, is beautiful and realistic, highlighting the everyday difficulties life as a single parent with a special needs child can face. I enjoyed the narration, as she managed to impart the emotions in this book very well, but it did take me a little while to warm to her male voices. Her variation with the female voices was great and overall I did like her rendition of this novella. This series is well written, believable and has captivating characters that make you want to follow their lives. It has humour, duplicity, love and some great plot twists that leave you wanting more. Good Story

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This book was interesting. I could tell from the synopsis that it was going to be filled with humor. 14 day to change your whole life is that even possible. Because I did not listen to the first book I had to do some inserting of event in my head but overall this was a good story. The narrator added to the story as well. I will go back and listen to book 1 and I await book 3 to find out the outcome.

Soul Detox - Book 2 Review...

Book 2 is a slight improvement over first book. Last couple chapters (45 minutes, audible) caught my interest. Writing somewhat tightened. Long-winded proses that went nowhere. Production better. Narration decent. Might download next book.
