One of the 20th century's most challenging novels of ideas, The Fountainhead champions the cause of individualism through the story of a gifted young architect who defies the tyranny of conventional public opinion. The struggle for personal integrity in a world that values conformity above creativity is powerfully illustrated through three characters: Howard Roarke, the genius who is resented because he creates purely for the delight of his own work and on no other terms; Gail Wynand, the newspaper mogul and self-made millionaire whose power was bought by sacrificing his ideals to the lowest common denominator of public taste; and Dominique Francon, the devastating beauty whose desperate search for meaning has been twisted, through despair, into a quest to destroy the single object of her desire: Howard Roarke. Dramatic, poetic, and demanding, The Fountainhead remains one of the towering books on the contemporary intellectual scene.©1943 The Bobbs-Merrill Company; 1968 Ayn Rand; 1993 Leonard Peikoff (P)1994 Blackstone Audio Inc. Love the storys underlying themes. The reader mispronounced a few words and a few unexplained pauses threw off the flow of the story. Considering the length of the story, I’ll take the few hiccups over reading all this on my own!

Great book

The performance was incredible, I don’t know how one voice could clearly portray so many characters so impeccably.
The story is probably in the top 3 books I’ve ever read. Just incredible.

I appreciate Ayn Rand’s excellent illustrations of the dangers of collectivism and the celebration of the greatness of the individual. Free choice and free thinking are not appreciated in 2022. Her 1943 Novel is very timely today. She shows how the popular press can mold and manipulate to shift the unthinking masses.

This was a refreshing read to someone who values free agency, appreciates freedom of thoughts and deeds, and does not bend to public whims. I am renewed to know there are others.

Prophetic and Accurate

The unabridged version is the only way to go. This book is incredibly well written with a timeless message. Any Rand’s style is very descriptive and wordy and yet the message would be lost if it was abbreviated. Highly recommended.
