Very immature even for YA

I’m not even finished with this book and I purchased it not expecting a whole lot but this was written so immaturely! It’s like the actions of the main character are so far from what a normal 17 year old would do. Also she is written like how a little girl would act. I’m disappointed so far in this book. I bought this for a easy listen in the background while I do other things but I became so annoyed by the narrator I had to eventually turn it off before I finished. I’m a huge fan of paranormal/urban fantasy/ romance and YA and that’s all I listen to, this was the first book I’ve stopped listening to before it finished. Just a warning for anyone looking for another good YA/paranormal romance THIS IS WRITTEN FOR 6ths graders not actual 18 year olds.

Save your credits!

This book is like bad fan fiction of Twilight.

I love YA books but this one was written, as another reviewer wrote, “immaturely”. The vocabulary was very basic. The plot was generic. The narration was weak.

Actually, the narrators voice ended up being the straw that broke the camels back. I returned the book. I couldn’t finish it.

Captivating story poor delivery.

The story is very well written and relatable, however the narrative was very robotic and hard to get used to.

Narrator is terrible, story is so so, performance is bad

The narrator is terrible. Almost made me hate the book (series), but luckily for the author, the story is interesting. However, the speech of the characters is too formal and awkward. People don't speak to one another like that, at least not Nora. One could make a case for the eldest of the characters, bit Nora is supposed to be a teenage girl. Teenagers do not speak in that way. Also, the constant repeating of what one character says then phrased as a question by another character gets really annoying after a while. Every statement turns into a clarifying question. Also, there is not enough character development of Nora herself or between her and Hunter. Moreover, the fact that Nora barely even touches on the loss of her life and family is not very believable. Nor is there any anger towards Hunter for doing something forbidden that put her life in danger to begin with. Most of the story development is poor. It kind of feels all over the place. I'm on the third book and only keep listening because I'm in Quentin's and literally have nothing else to do with my time. But I'm bored out of my mind and annoyed by the narration. The narrator makes the characters sound whiney and stuttering idiots. She truly does a disservice to the story. The narrator totally does not understand the characters or their motivations and cannot properly convey their personalities or their moods/intentions appropriately. They end up sounding sniveling and weak. And why the narrator strangers all the characters' lines all the time I do not understand. This narrator needs a class in characterization. She uses about 3 different voice types only: uncertain, annoying, and old (sounding).

Great beginning, not so great end

I enjoyed the series until the final book. Everything felt so rushed at the end and left me disappointed. I feel that there needed to be another book to sum up everything that they tried to jam together at the end of the final book. We don't know what happened to Madison and Alexander at the end, only that they made it out. Nor do we know what happened to Gabriel, the rest of the Angel's or Rafael. There was a big plot twist with Hunter (I don't want to spoil it for anyone) but it only took Nora literally two seconds to forgive him after a culminating betrayal. It was not a satisfying ending for me but the story until then was great!
