Publisher's summary

In New York Times best-selling author Brad Taylor's latest heart-stopping thriller, Pike Logan returns with his most dangerous and personal threat yet: a Taskforce operator gone rogue.

For years the extralegal counterterrorist unit known as the Taskforce has worked in the shadows, anticipating and preventing attacks around the globe. Created to deal with a terrorist threat that shuns the civilized rule of law, it abandoned the same, operating outside of the US Constitution. Though wildly successful, it was rooted in a fear that the cure could be worse than the disease. And now that fear has come home.

A Special Forces soldier is killed on an operation in Afghanistan, and complicit in the attack is a government official of an allied nation. While the US administration wants to forget the casualty, one Taskforce member will not. When he sets out to avenge his brother's death, his actions threaten not only to expose the Taskforce's activities but also to destroy a web of alliances against a greater evil.

Pike Logan understands the desire but also the danger. Brought in to eliminate the risk, he's now forced to choose between his friend and the administration he's sworn to protect while, unbeknownst to either of them, the soldier's death is only the beginning....

very good pace

I loved it. kept me interested all long, never lost interest. I couldn't put it down following the complexity of the plot. The characters were very likable. I enjoyed different narrators as well announcing changes of antagonists.

A new wrinkle for a change... Well done

This book starts out with a number of new characters slipped into a new story foremat, along with identity take overs and of course spontaneous violence.
But this story line is new and somewhat unique, so much so that in the beginning I checked a few times to make sure I was reading the right book. The readers turned in a great product this time.. Don't mind telling you I was happier with this book over the last two!
This one is worth the credit!

Mission accomplished!

Very realistic characters, a good story and timely plot.
Easy listen due to the narrators expertise.

very different than the other books

I went into this written and dialogues Audible book with the high expectations of the other books in this series that never failed to have me intrigued.
The book was so slow through most half of it I could not keep the characters straight and even lost the plot at many times throughout the book.
I can't bring up spoilers and have it effect the new readers so just suffice it to say there is an odd mix of fact and fiction I don't feel very impressed by.
The book is well worth the credit even given the poor review. the last of this book was action, suspense and great enjoyment if you were to discard some incongruity.

Pretty Much The Way It Is

Really liked the way the dialogue was true to life. Some may not like the “F” word but it has many uses and this story demonstrates almost every one of them. Takes me back to being an active Marine in Vietnam.
Guy George was a great character, willing to trust instincts, gained through years of experience!

Each Logan/Cahill book is better than the last

What other book might you compare The Forgotten Soldier to and why?

I would compare this to a Vince Flynn or David Baldacci or Ben Coes book. Nonstop action combined with international intrigue, who could ask for more?

Which character – as performed by Henry Strozier and Rich Orlow – was your favorite?

Orlow and Stozier have become the voices of Pike Logan and company. Their performances were excellent as always.

Any additional comments?

This book was certainly worth the wait and in my opinion the best of the series so far! The story was complicated enough to give it a realistic feel with out going so far out that it sounded like "fiction". A task force member's brother is killed in Afghanistan and his personal effects are returned to him. I won't restate everything you can read in the synopsis but when the brother (Guy George) takes his suspicions before those in charge of this country's security he is told to back off and that he's making his brother's death personal. He goes out on his own and bodies begin the pile up. This turns into a global race with Pike and Company close but not close enough. If I say anymore it will spoil it for anyone who wants to read/listen to this book but the tension, stratigies and even humor that follow had me listening to 3/4 of it the first day! This is an overall Excellent listen with a satisfying conclusion and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it. If you found this review helpful please indicate so. Thank You.

Another supurb Pike Logan thriller!

Brad Taylor is rapidly becoming one of my favorite espionage thriller writers. The Forgotten Soldier, novel 9 in the series, does not quite measure up to some of the prior novels in the series, but it is still a great listen. The narration is really excellent.
