Publisher's summary

In Mayfield, Delaware, the carnival is in town. Seventeen-year-old Lexi Cartwright, daughter of the local deputy sheriff and leading lady of her high school drama club, expects nothing more from her weekend than a few hours of fun, and perhaps a kiss from Eddie Ross.

But for Lexi - and for the rest of the 11th Hour Players - the real monsters aren't in the Pavilion of the Unusuals, and the real terror isn't on the Ferris wheel. It's lurking in the Funhouse. Meet the family. Casper's family.

On Friday night, they will disobey their orders. They will incur the wrath of the Cabal, and they will be destroyed...unless, before the sun rises on Sunday morning, they can turn Lexi Cartwright into one of them. Before the night is over, Lexi will have to make a choice: die, or kill forever.

Let The Forever Show begin.

Excellent

Where does The Forever Show rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

First audio book I've listened to all the way through. Not a big fan of them, however this one could change my mind. Narration was spot on, and kept me wanting to listen. Had already read the book so I knew what was going to happen, so no big surprises there, but Jessica kept it interesting. Great to read and great to listen to.

Family's beginning

I loved Marcus' Dearest Summer story(ies) from the No Sleep podcast and was very happy to see an audio book continuing the story. Jessica McEvoy is a great narrator and voice actress that really brings the story to life. I'm glad I found this!

Entertaining from beginning to end!

Happy to have listened more from my beloved Casper and Summer, plus family going on a killing spree. Jessica does a wonderful job in giving the story a good pace, excellent narrator!

Amazing characters, best vampires ever!!!

What did you love best about The Forever Show?

Each character has a unique supernatural quality. Narrative and descriptive language very fun and different. A real breath of fresh, scary air. A great escape from a genre usually filled with pulp and soap opera nonsense. Fun to root for the bad guys for a change.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters were my favorite aspect of the storytelling. Really cool vampires.

Which character – as performed by Jessica McEvoy – was your favorite?

Summer

If you could rename The Forever Show, what would you call it?

I wouldn't rename it! Perfect title.

Why is this not a series already?

I mention this word in all of my reviews of Marcus Damanda's work, but damn this book is dark. Damanda is surprisingly good at evoking the feel of a camp 80's horror film at first, but then weaving in some discordant notes. I kept thinking I was about to see the hero rally and montage start. And then NOPE. More horror.

It's a great take on a horror classic, which I think it thoroughly lampshades by mentioning it near the end. At you'll still be guessing, still trying to see the way out almost to the last minute of the recording.

Again I have nothing but praise for Jessica McEvoy's narration. You've got to have a female narrator for a tale like this and she's got the just right low and smokey tones to pull you in, an amazing ability to turn on and off a wracked, almost tear choked voice that could make you wonder if she's actually crying to get it right.

Now sadly, I've finished all of Marcus Damanda's books on Audible and I'll have to wait for more. And I will be waiting. These books were awesome.

I just wrote a whole review and it's gone

Would you listen to The Forever Show again? Why?

No. It was very good but fairly long with strong emotional impact.

What other book might you compare The Forever Show to and why?

Something like the "Final Destination " movies.

What three words best describe Jessica McEvoy’s performance?

Undifferentiated, clear and plain.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, too many emotional wallops.

Any additional comments?

When I switched to Notes to copy the disclaimer, when I came back to paste it in the page refreshed and wiped out the entire review I spent 15 minutes writing. The sources of evil in this book are supernatural but the violent horror is real and very satisfyingly massive. This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast.

Sometimes I kept listening because I was scared!

If you could sum up The Forever Show in three words, what would they be?

What a ride!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes! I was sucked right in. Right away two lives were drastically changed forever. I had to keep listening after that. There were so many characters and so many things going on that I got confused from time to time. Sometimes you have to listen again after you finish to catch what you missed. Well, I do anyway.

What about Jessica McEvoy’s performance did you like?

I like Jessica's narration. I've listened hundreds of audiobooks and I can usually tell if it is a narrator for me rather quickly. She is easy to listen to. She also made characters sound really young and scared (as they should) at times.

Any additional comments?

I enjoy YA books. This one fit nicely into the kind of stories that I like. I don't usually go for horror but I am glad I did this time. New author for me to like. I will definitely get the next book.

This book was gifted to me by the author or narrator in exchange for an honest and unbiased review via Audiobook Boom! (formerly Audiobook Blast!).

Strange Crazy Good

Would you listen to The Forever Show again? Why?

Yes i would listen to The Forever Show again because it's a pretty crazy mixed up book that i had trouble at times knowing what exactly was happening, then it would become clear, then i would get lost again on what was happening exactly, then it would become clear. Happened all through the book so a relisten would help me catch all the things i might have missed making the story a bit clearer right away

What other book might you compare The Forever Show to and why?

I don't know. I haven't listened to or read a book like this one before.

What about Jessica McEvoy’s performance did you like?

Her reading was clear and calm during most of the book. It helped that she didn't try to do all different voices for all the characters, there was just too many and the way the story was it didn't need it.

If you could rename The Forever Show, what would you call it?

I wouldn't rename it, The Forever Show is a great title!
