This classic Germanic folktale tells the story of a poor fisherman who one day catches an enchanted fish and, being a simple man, immediately releases the beast, much to the chagrin of his greedy wife - if the fish is magical, she says, it ought to be able to grant wishes! Thus begins this engrossing morality tale, which cautions kids against demanding too much; after all, you never know what you might get....
Laura Patton performs "The Fisherman’s Wife" in light and confiding tones, guiding listeners gently through to the story’s inevitable conclusion. Patton’s performance, theatrical voices and all, feels a little like being read to by your own mother, lending additional enchantment to this enjoyable audiobook.
