Publisher's Summary

The South American Boreal: one of the last truly unexplored jungles on our planet. In its dark heart is an ancient crater basin, sealed in by a living cage, making it a time capsule for an ancient, deadly ecosystem.

Matt Kearns, Carla Nero, and a team of scientist explorers have found their way in. In the crater's sunken interior are creatures from a primordial nightmare. Dangers lurk in every treetop, under every rock or loom monstrously over them. It is a place where mankind is out of time.

Matt and Carla must find out how the terrifying parasite wreaking havoc in the United States can be controlled while staying ahead of things that defy belief and shake their understanding of evolution on our planet.

Trapped, with time running out, the team of explorers will find themselves a part of a food chain...and nowhere near the top.

Absolutely Ridiculous........

This entire set of three volumes could have easily been in one, not too long, volume. But, marketing wins in the end, I guess.
Well, to get right to it - the story here is mundane, obviously written for the mid-teen market, and not very interesting. The author attempts to wow us with technical facts constantly quipped by the characters, but comes off as stupid when in the context of one scientist speaking to another.
The ending of this story was so idiotic, I laughed out loud.
I am getting tired of these books. They sound interesting in the promo, but then I start listening, and find they are written for YA audiences, and in reality are just pulp-junk.

Please label books intended for 14 year old girls, so the rest of us can avoid!

A Mutant Jurassic Park vs. Mutant Scabies/Mites

I wasn't sure what to expect with book 2 but it certainly wasn't this. I still hate Megan's character and wish the author would just kill her off as she is useless and annoying. I like all the other characters. The book did keep my interest enough so that I finished listening to it. However, it ended with a cliffhanger. The narrator did a great job and has a very pleasant voice.

A Horse The Size Of A Cat

Episode 1, exploded into our minds. Episode 2 drizzled in one ear and out the next. I have often been disappointed by the second book in a series, but I will have to say the difference between these two episodes was epic. The narrator was so boring I had to check to see if it was the same narrator as episode 1, since I remembered him as being great. In episode two the narration is boring and everybody sounds the same. I guess it was the inability of the writer to paint a picture with his words. In the beginning there was an interesting suspenseful scene involving a cat sized horse and a dinner plate size spider, but after that I was day dreaming.

At a little over five and a half hours long, I thought surly I can make it to the end. Instead, I found myself driving down the road totally forgetting I had a book on. I would catch myself day dreaming and try to get back into the book, but I just could not. About two and a half hours in, I changed to another book and had no problem staying in the new book.

I will not continue this series.

Decent series

Decent read but the 3 sections should have been put together in one book rather than charging everyone such high prices for chapters. I find that sneaky and money grubbing.
I thought his books were good but this greed is detouring my enthusiasm to get anymore of his books.

Real neat concept

I really liked the idea or concept the author designed in order to explain how an environment with prehistoric animals could go unnoticed on earth for eons. However, I would have like to spend more time within that space and would have like to see the idea explored further. All in all good story though.

Cheated !

I feel that I have been cheated out of two credits in listening to this series, the "First Bird" trilogy is not really that at all, it is a single book broken into three parts for no other reason than to make more money. I have listened to many books over 15 hours long, and can see no other reason for this one to be spliced in such a way. I have not listened to the final book in the series, enough is enough

This is too short for the coat of an audible book,

I bought the second book to give the series a chance but it’s a bit of a rip off considering it’s only about four hours long. I won’t be buying any more from the series, it should all be in one book, two pushing it. Story was good shame about structure.

Always well read

The first book was engrossing, this one was ok but starting to get a bit ludicrous. I hope the 3rd installment is better.
