Publisher's summary

"The master of ticking-bomb suspense" (People) returns with a devilishly good thriller, and reward seeker Colter Shaw's most personal case to date.

Just hours after the harrowing events of The Never Game and The Goodbye Man, Colter Shaw finds himself in San Francisco, where he has taken on the mission his father began years ago: finding a missing courier bag containing evidence that will bring down a corporate espionage firm responsible for hundreds, perhaps thousands, of deaths.

Following the enigmatic clues his father left behind, Shaw plays cat and mouse with the company's sadistic enforcers, as he speeds from one gritty neighborhood in the City by the Bay to another. Suddenly, the job takes on a frightening urgency: Only by finding the courier bag can he expose the company and stop the murder of an entire family - slated to die in 48 hours.

With the help of an unexpected figure from his past, and with the enforcers closing the net, Shaw narrows in on the truth - and learns that the courier bag contains something unexpected: a secret that could only be described as catastrophic.

Filled with dozens of twists and reversals, The Final Twist is a nonstop race against time to save the family...and to keep the devastating secret Shaw has uncovered from falling into the wrong hands.

Did not enjoy.

Started too slow. It just seemed to drag on and on before it began to get half way good. Too many characters and plots Editing could have made the main story enjoyable. Story was almost schizophrenic-just all over the place. Don’t recommend.

This book is worse than horrible.

I read the reviews and I didn't believe them. Now I do. Unfortunately I can't return this book nor reach customer service. I started and stopped listening at least 5 separate times. There is just no getting through this truly, poorly written book. Also why does the narrator have an indistinguishable accent from time to time? There are so many things going on that at times I think that I'm listening to a different book. Dumb idea to put "treasures" in a frame and then give exact directions to some woman that you are friends of where to find them. What? A safe house is not a location that everyone is aware of. Visitors? What?

This is the worst book I ever tried to read/listen to. Appalling! Shame on you Jefferey Deaver, the publishing house, Audible, your writing and editing team for allowing this to go to press. What a waste of energy and money.

Still like the main character. Not the inaccuracy.

See previous review re: giving Shaw's mom multiple professions. Not impossible but she'd have to have been a genius who started college at 10 or 12.
Wolf packs in eastern California? Nope. Only at Mt. Lassen near Shasta.
Saying the homeless either have schizophrenia or borderline personality disorder? Um, no. Substance-induced psychotic disorder, some Schizophrenic, some Bipolar, some PTSD. Borderline? Really. Most Borderline folks are quite functional.

The car in the movie Bullitt a Dodge Charger????? Good gravy. Clearly, Mr. Deaver did not SEE the movie. It was a Ford Mustang!!!!!

Colter Shaw series not doing it for me

I've been a huge fan of Jeffery Deaver's past books including the Lincoln Rhyme series and his standalone novels. However, his Colter Shaw series are just not as good as his past work. I don't care for how he begins each one well into a reward search then jumps around in time to work back to the beginning. I could deal with that if the writing and story was as good as his past work but it just isn't.

Not the author’s best work

This installment in series was not as well crafted as previous installments. Had it been a standalone, I would not have read to the end. The first half was confusing with so many different characters at play without really developing them. I also felt that the appearance of Adele just in the nick of time to save Colter was really farfetched and unlikely. It did pick up towards the end and improved somewhat.
