Publisher's Summary

Available in audio for the first time since its publication in 1970, and narrated by the author, Germaine Greer.

A worldwide best seller, The Female Eunuch is a landmark book in the history of the women's movement and a ground-breaking feminist tract. Drawing from history, literature, and popular culture - past and present - Germaine Greer's searing examination of women's oppression is both an important social commentary and a passionately argued polemical masterpiece. This is one of the most famous, most widely read books on feminism ever written.

Beautiful

Greer is a butcher, a Dionysian Maenad set to the ritual dismemberment and omophagy of the Western God/Devil of traditional marriage, her analysis is both the violence and music of the rite and the slaughter is beautiful. My only gripe is the pit she leaves with her critique, yes, we're trapped in this myth but we require myth, so what replaces the old myth? Greer has no answer and her silence haunts me. Wonderful read.

already own the book

I had to get the audible. listening at 1.35x speed worked out great.

I'm a depressed sahm currently and this was the medicine I needed. It's so easy to get delusional lost, and lonely in marriage. This book reminded me I shouldn't have married. But I am so I'll tough it out the feminist way even if this ends in divorce. I love this book and will have my daughters read it. It's a gem. Truly inspirational.

Every woman should listen to this

Still incredibly relevant to women in 2017. Beautifully read. A moving call for women to reexamine their place in society.

Amazing

Highly thought-provoking. Saddening ti think how little progress has been made globally on women's rights since the book's publication. This is essential reading for men and women. I found the narration excellent.

A bit dry

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This is not a good book to follow Catlin Moran's great book.. A little too historic for me.

loved it, wished I hadn't waited till my 30s to finally listen to it. Germain is a great narrator, really didn't expect it to be so funny and entertaining!
