The white-washed Italian villa is perfect. I thought it might feel odd, living in a stranger’s house for the summer, but as my husband and children swim in the infinity pool, I start to relax. And then, in the back of a wardrobe, I find something that shatters everything....

Sparkling green eyes, square jaw, lopsided smile. A young man with his arm around a beautiful woman. The picture is old and faded, but I’d recognize him anywhere. The man is my husband.

But we’ve never met the family we’ve swapped homes with, and my husband swears it isn’t him in the photo. He’s lying. We argue on the balcony with the sun setting behind us, and I storm out.

When I finally calm down enough to go back to the villa to confront him, I find his dead body sprawled across the veranda.

Who killed my husband? Was our marriage a lie? And are my children now in terrible danger?

Excellent example of living with a narcissist.
Really highlights the way they manipulate and gaslight even after being confronted with verifiable facts.

a Good Story

It wasnt a bad book at all , and I did listen to the whole thing. There were lots of surprise twists , which I loved.
maybe for me personally it would have been better with a stronger narrator.

Worst Ending

They story was slow, and unremarkable. Then ending was worse. I’d say, take a pass on this one.

Lots of Twists and Turns

I loved this book and even listened to it when I was not in the car or exercising! I found myself yelling at the woman in the story who is not seeing what is right in front of her. I really enjoyed this book.

Pretty interesting

Took awhile to build but, it was decent story. Ending was a bit surprising.

Crazy ending

I’m just getting back into reading again and wanted to find a thriller drama with travel and crazy twists, and I found it here with this book. Short chapter so I finished the whole thing in one day and was captivated the whole time. Love it

Another fun to read domestic thriller from from Shalini Boland. Yes, the weakness of the main character is a little annoying and it's not realistic perhaps, but who cares. I love her books and this one is worth reading if you do too.

Interesting

It dragged in the beginning & the narcissistic husband & catering wife were frustrating to listen to. The main plot could possibly be plausible but what she added at the very end didn’t make any sense.
The narrator is great except other so wives voices sounded the same so that was confusing.

Frustratingly weak female character!

Hard to get through even the first few chapters because of the ridiculous walking on egg shells that Beth does with her husband. That guy needs some training! Self centered, bullying moron! I know there are women like but it’s still hard to listen to. Other than that which continued forever the story was entertaining and the narrator was good.

entertaining but just ok

This was a good book, it captured me and I kept waiting for the big bang! that never happened but the story was entertaining enough... I'm for the most part satisfied it was ok
