Publisher's summary

After their escape from the city of Silvia, Lutz and Laya evade their pursuers by fleeing into the nearby forest. Now that he has a reliable companion, Lutz's future in his new world finally looks promising as they continue to level up and pick apart the underlying mechanics that only they are able to see, thanks to Lutz's unique Status Screen.

They enter the city of Reim in order to resupply for the long journey ahead, but quickly realize that this new city isn't any better off than Silvia. If anything, it's worse. Surrounded by desperate citizens in a city on the brink of disaster, what will Lutz choose to do?

the teams are forming up well

The author did an amazing job at taking his time to describe the moments of life that are normally forgotten or not appreciated.

He was able to flush out the relaxation and emotional connection music can bring to one's life. I loved how he could bring out the beauty in everyday tasks like the rhythm of string a warm stew.

He also did a great job at progressing the MC's team and important connections for life in their unforgiving world.

I love how the supporting groups is coming together also, those secrete detectives ;p

The lisp is growing on me

Very entertaining, but the voice actor has a lisp. Surprisingly, the lisp has started to be a lot less annoying. Worth a listen.

Did it Again

The second volume was as good as the first! I am quite surprised and very happy about it. Too many stories in this genre written by Westin writer start to go downhill fast after the first volume. With this I look forward to the next volume in the series.

great second book in the series!

Good story and narration!

Our intrepid hero is back and the plot continues to thicken! Stumbling a human girl and a cat girl who turn out to be escaped slaves he quickly scoops them up, what could possibly go wrong?

Mason does a great job with the narration!

if you enjoyed the first book of the series then you'll love this one as well!

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to find out what happens in the next one!

Still Better than rise of the shield hero.

I really liked this story I'd say this one is even better than the first book but the narrator still leaves a lot to be desired, With voices that all sound the same and the weird emphasis on words at is still there, at least he's consistent...

Mispronounced words

I likes the simple story, either it's the narrator or just the use of words in the book but their are a lot of mispronounced words. For example marque Addel becomes Adele (like the singer) and other small errors distract.

Glad I gave it a try

I read book 1 and lived it. So I took a chance on the audio gor book 2. Well worth the credit. It took me a little while to get used to the narrators voice but after that...pure gold.

Amazing!

Absolutely can not wait for the next part of this story! There are many larger moving parts that I can see foreshadowing in the future that I'm interested in. The characters are developing nicely. The battles are fun and exciting. Even the narration was better for this installment. Read this now!

well

Its not terrible, although it is clear were almost every inspiration comes from, so much so that it seems to push the homage line.

some of the words seemed to difficult for the narrator.

Only complaint

The narrator has the occasional odd pause or over emphasis but that's just a minor issue to a great story
