Publisher's summary

A picture-perfect life is shattered when Holly Vogel discovers her husband has crossed an unthinkable line - with their five-year-old daughter. She immediately takes the child and flees, closing all communication with a man, now seen only as a monster.

Reeling, Holly wrestles with innumerable possibilities. She can’t bear the thought of putting her only child through a lengthy trial. And though he’s committed an unforgivable sin, she can’t escape the love she feels for the man once seen as her one and only.

Scouring the internet for answers, she happens upon a website claiming to be the answer to all her prayers. A website created specifically for women in the same or similar situations. A website known only as "The Facility".

The facility

I am not sure whether I like this book or not.The main character makes the worst decision in the world when she doesn't take her sexually abused child to the police. It gets worse from there.Add mediocre narration by Carly Kincaid and it isn't a surprise some don't finish reading it. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'

Be careful what you ask for!

After a horrific act, Rhys Vogel tells his wife Holly he will do anything to make things right. Rather than put their daughter Jenna through all that goes with a trial, and to insure it never happens again, Holly makes a very special, very secret arrangement with The Facility. Brandon Ford takes listeners on a journey shrouded in mystery and secrecy in this edge of your seat thriller. The plot is revealed in the smooth, clear, easy to understand manner that I have come to expect, and grown to absolutely love from a Brandon Ford story. No confusion, no unanswered questions, just complete immersion and utter enthrallment! Brandon, you had me from go! I loved it!

Unique and creative

"The Facility" (2016, 2020) by Brandon Ford is a unique novel featuring Holly, a middle-class mother of a five-year-old girl, who leaves her husband when she discovers he has molested their daughter. Holly decides to take drastic action that results in major unintended and unimaginable consequences. Narrator Carly Kincaid’s voice is relatively the same regardless of the character speaking, which lessened my interest. Mildly recommended. At my request, I was given this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and have voluntarily left this review.

Unique listen, narration fell a little short

The Facility by Brandon Ford was interesting. While I can't say that I agree with Holly's decision on how she still wants to be with her husband after what he did to their daughter, the story surrounding the Facility was unique and quite harrowing. This was a quick, entertaining enough listen. Not entertaining enough to search for more books by the author to listen to though.

Carly Kincaid's narration felt flat. Her voice didn't fluctuate much between the characters or the fluctuating emotions that were going on throughout the novel. I think had she read with more emotion and perhaps used different voices for the various characters, it would have helped the listen some. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

second chances

Some second chances aren't worth it. How could Holly show such poor judgment and think a second chance was appropriate???? What a twisted ending!!!! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

A captivating thriller

This is a fast moving story that keeps the listeners attention. The lead character Holly is sympathetic and the story is mainly told through her eyes but that makes it a bit one-sided if I am to find something critical to say.

I like that there is not too much side stories and there is a clearly focused story line that asks some real questions like: How far is it reasonably to go? What does it mean when somebody says they will do anything?

OMG, so good!

This book is so freakin good! It has such a great twist. I was totally Godsmack! This is totally worth the credit I am so glad I got to read it. I knew it was going to be good but I am so pleased that it was great. The narrator did a wonderful job I really enjoyed her voice. If you like family dramas you will love this one, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Sweet Karma

I absolutely loved this book. The Facility may be a book about an unthinkable act perpetrated on a child but they don't delve into that sick twisted act to much it deals with the aftermath. The main character Holly starts off weak but as the plot goes on you watch her grow stronger. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves suspense and karma.

Surprising and cool

this book doesnt seem like a scary story at the beginning, but I spent a long time after I finished this book thinking about it. I didnt realize what was happening right up until the end of the book, and I really liked it.

Really makes you think

You have to go into this book with an open mind. You can’t read the first few chapters and then give up based on the fact that you don’t agree with what the mother does. Chances are, you won’t agree with her decision, but there’s a reason it starts off like that. Don’t quit because you disagree. I assume that most people would disagree with how the mother handles the situation, BUT her decisions are part of what makes the book so good! It’s one of those books that you won’t easily forget, and will definitely make you think. Although I definitely wouldn’t make the same choices the mother did, the author did a great job explaining why she chose to do what she did. It didn’t justify her choices, but the author made her argument so strong for doing what she did and believing the things she did that you could at the very least understand (even if you don’t agree). The whirlwind of events that happen after she makes her big decision about what to do is very fast paced full of and action. The fathers reaction to the mother really throws in the factor of why people are motivated to do the things they do, and also how differently people act based on their different motivations. It’s a very striking moment when you realize how different the motivations are for the different choices the mother and father make. It was a big wow moment! This book takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions...furious, overjoyed, sad, curious, compassionate...and then comes to an end that you will most likely be satisfied with. To tell anymore than that would be giving away spoilers. I was given this free review copy of this audiobook at my request and my review is voluntary and honest based on my opinion. The only issue I had was with the narrator. I felt that the story would have been even more powerful if she had used more voice fluctuations and tried changing her voice a little when she was reading the parts of the little girl. She wasn’t bad...I just thought she could’ve been stronger. Overall I’d recommend this book though!
