The Fabulous 50's

Eisenhower followed Truman into the White House. Dr. Martin Luther King led the Montgomery bus boycott. Sputnik launched the Space Age. Khrushchev visited the U.S. Everyone was moving to the suburbs, dancing to "Rock Around the Clock", and listening to Alan Freed and Dick Clark. Marilyn Monroe and James Dean were movie idols. The first McDonald's appeared. Milton Berle was "Mr. Television". Americans wore bermuda shorts and grey flannel suits and thrilled to Willie Mays, Ben Hogan, and Floyd Patterson.
