Publisher's summary

The Expansion: Publisher's Pack 2 includes books three and four of the thrilling Expansion series.

Conflict (book three)

Battles have been lost. Enemies stranded. The Conflict continues.

The Ninth Fleet returns to Mars after barely surviving its last brush with the Va’alen; their enemy now marooned in the Centauri system after a daring mission far behind enemy lines to destroy their gateway device.

Rearmed, refitted, and hopeful that they pack enough punch to take on the superior foe, the human fleet heads back to pit their new ships against the Va’alen swarm. But when they get there, they find the whole sector of space empty.

As they begin building a space station as a foothold in the region, their recon ship, the Ichi, is sent ahead to explore, when a worrying discovery leaves Commander Brandt and her team stranded and cut off on the surface of a strange and hostile moon.

Fighting against the clock, they face a danger the fleet might not survive, and treachery threatens everything they’ve built.

War (book four)

The universe has expanded dangerously beyond belief.

The fracturing of order back home sends Earth into turmoil, the tension affecting both near and far solar systems. Suffering from the political situation and kept mostly in the dark, the former crew of the Ichi is scattered to other roles.

Commander Kyle Torres, after the shocking discovery of the true nature of the Va'alen, is tasked with the difficult job of negotiating with the Kuldar.

Meanwhile, Admiral Dassiova is kept away from the Centauri system for a mysterious and secret purpose even he doesn’t yet understand. The rest of the team who found themselves stranded on the forest moon are drawn back into a fight with their newest enemy, but they learn that not all of their enemies are alien.

When the dust settles, the mission becomes clear. They are at war.

Continue the epic military sci-fi Expansion series today from the best-selling author of the hit post-apocalyptic series After It Happened.

This is my favorite Military SciFi series!

Bought this on sale and took a chance on the whole series at once. I'm glad I did because after the first pack I would have had to pay full price for the rest (something I would have done in a heartbeat). Books 3-4 are just as good as books 1-2.

The narration is excellent and the writing it tight and realistic. The characters are interesting and have depth to them. The world building is solid and the story is engaging. These are great books!

Devon C Ford hits another home run!

Loved this!

A note to Devon C Ford: Please keep writing! Whatever or whoever your muse is, I hope you take extra special care to keep it safe. Whether it’s The Expansion, After It Happened, Rise, Toy Soldiers, or any other of your series, your fans will be thrilled to read whatever more there is to learn about the characters and their stories you’ve yet to tell!

Like the first two Expansion books in Volume One, this second installment was excellent! It was another binge read must - and thankfully I got my special “sleep” friendly headphones in the day before its release. Although, I didn’t sleep at all because I was too enthralled to stop listening. At least I was comfortable!

Luke Daniels was... well, awesome, of course! As I often do, I listened at x1.1 to x1.2 speed, which always keeps me a little more engaged. But that’s a personal preference. Everyone’s brain is different.

I feel so greedy for hoping to see another Ford book in the coming month. If I had my preference, I think Toy Soldiers or After It Happened would be fun to visit again. But I’m not picky!

Moves the story and series forward

Devon C. Ford improved the story over Publisher's Pack 1 by making a few key characters more interesting, along with providing a lot more insights into the antagonists along with introducing another opposition force none were expecting. However, the decision to jump forward and back in time as it moved the story forward was somewhat jarring and not really obvious as to the need for doing it.

Luke Daniels' performance was as professional and enjoyable as I've come to expect from him.

Awesome

This military Sci-fi was exceptionally good and really needs another book! Reminds me of ember wars but with a much more realistic ride.

Great series thru book 4!

It was a very enjoyable series with great character development, a good mix of war, and lots of fun characters. Some reviewers criticized the lack of accurate/strict military protocol, but frankly, that’s part of the fun in the books. It makes for plenty of clever and humorous dialogue. I've really enjoyed this series thru book 4. Fingers crossed book 5, (finale), is as good.

And of course, Luke Daniels is outstanding, as always.

Good books

This is a good story and I enjoyed the voice of Mr. Daniels.
I feel like the story sometimes gets “off into the weeds”. Otherwise it’s great!
