Publisher's summary

Psychotherapist Letty Whittaker, a professional secret keeper, has a secret of her own. When one of her clients slips free from an abusive boyfriend, Letty becomes the target of his violent rage. Wayne invades Letty's life, slithering his way past the barriers erected between her personal and professional lives, leaving gifts of dead rats, mutilated dolls, and freaky Shakespearian sonnets. Worst of all, Wayne uncovers Letty's deepest shame, infiltrating her AA group and threatening to expose her to the state licensing board.

And then - good news - Wayne is murdered. The bad news? The police suspect Letty. Worse yet, the sonnets and bloody souvenirs keep coming. Someone else has been watching Letty. Someone eager to drop bodies at her feet like a cat offering dead-mole trophies to his mistress.

Someone willing to kill again.

Highly Recommend This Book

This is a well written mystery with complex characters and many twists and turns. Letty is a realistic and flawed character that is very sympathetic and likeable. The supporting cast only add to the entertainment value of this book. I highly recommend it.

Okay But Not A Showstopper

I certainly didn't dislike this book, but I wasn't crazy about it either. I had read some earlier ratings so I knew there would be a lot about AA and that didn't bother me as much as it did some other eaters. I just didn't particularly like Letty, which is too bad since it is her story!

Narrator was okay but sometimes was a bit strident. I listen at 1.5 times so that may be the reason.

Hilarious Who-Dun-It

This was my first Glaser novel and I laughed throughout this story. There were so many twists and turns that just when you thought you knew who the "Shakespeare Killer" was, that person would wind up dead and you were back to square one. Never saw this one coming, lol.

narrator has a mild speech impediment

storyline seems good. I like a book series but she narrates the other three. So I would have to read the rest. don't have that kind of time in my bust life to read the other three. but I cannot take the impediment. it's not her fault it's a fault of mine. I'm so distracted with her impediment that I can't focus on the book. in the beginning I though how rude she's eating a piece if candy while narrating this book. then I realized that it's likely her tongue she's tongue-tied. if it doesn't bother you you will enjoy the book.

Not bad.

The main character, Letty, does some pretty stupid stuff that I found a bit annoying, but I also found myself unable to put it down at times. I did whip through it quickly and it was a light listen. I do like the characters, Letty and her firends, although there is a lot of AA type talk in it, overall it wasn't bad. A fun little mystery with some twists and turns and I probably will continue on with the series.

Narration terrible

I listened to the audiobook instead of reading the book, and the narrator put the accents, and stops in the wrong place. Making it hard to understand where it was going, will read it next, to see if I enjoy the book better.

It was okay

I had a hard time getting into the story. I listened via Audible and the performance was fine, the story just didn't grab me like I was hoping for.

Riveting!

Characters came alive: laughed, cried, mourned, identified. Narrative visualized easily. I felt, as Letty felt.

A very fun read

This is just the kind of mystery I like - a mostly serious tale with spots of humor throughout. Not only that, but it kept me guessing, then when I did figure it out, I had to keep reading to be sure I was right!
An alcoholic protagonist who is in recovery gave some welcome insight into that world, detailing her encouraging support system, secrecy issues, and struggles with relapse.
I bought both the book and narration, and the tone of the narrator was spot on. I ended up not reading, but listening to the whole thing. I will definitely be listening to or reading more by this author. (My five-star ratings are reserved for books I would read again, and those are very rare.)
