About this listen

Victory, but at what cost?

Commodore Jack Romanoff and his crew won the battle for New Copenhagen but lost their quantum drive in the fight. Now they must free the human prisoners and strengthen their defenses before the Locusts trap them.

If it’s not already too late.

Only the alien hyperdrive they recovered offers a chance to get a new quantum drive and more missiles before time runs out. To master it and solve the mystery of the invasion, they must open a dialog with the aliens and get their willing cooperation. Somehow.

With no time to waste, they’d best be persuasive.

Classic space opera, though a bit formulaic. Chaney's a solid writer who keeps you coming back and Jeffery Kaefer (sp?) is a consumate professional!

Solid story-keeps me coming back for more.

Now, this book had a ton of action. In fact, I couldn’t put the book down. As usual, it had a great storyline and equally great narration.

Another great installment

Thought it was going to be the last but apparently not. Well, it is very enjoyable as a yarn. I love Kafer’s narrations, and the story is pretty good. It has not splintered into a half dozen subtexts and plot lines merely to prolong the series. Also not a lengthy side narrative of a subversive in elaborate detail which I truly hate. Do I plan on getting the next installment in the series? Probably, would like to see longer than 8 hour books though. So it might be a deal breaker.

All in all a solidly entertaining book that does pretty good in the suspense of disbelief.

What? Not the conclusion?

4.5 of 5 stars.

Each new installment nicely builds on the last and advances the storyline. In "The Enemy Revealed" closer communications are developed with captured aliens while a new enemy is introduced. Characters are consistently "in character" and the combat feels plausible, even realistic at times. On to Vol 5.

The narration has also been consistently good.

Two enemies revealed...good plot development

A few mispronouncing issues and the author flubbed the ranks of Colonel Turner, but the action was fun. Time to buy the next book.

Good story

This is yet another fantastic book by this duo. I love this story line. Absolutely one of the best story lines out there. Kick some alien butt. I can’t wait for the next installment in the series.

Fantastic book

I’m looking forward to Books5,6, & 7. I was not sure when I got the first book but by midway of the first book I was hooked. I seriously recommend the following if you like The Hunter - The Last Reaper & The Messenger. JN Chaney is the co-author in both.

Another good military story

The story moves along and gets to different places without skipping years. The author presents a very nice continuing story.

very good pacing
