Publisher's summary

Fellow at Ethic & Public Policy Center, scholar at The Institute for Human Ecology at CUA and the nationally best-selling author of the Theology of Home series, Carrie Gress argues that fifty years of radical feminism have had the opposite of the intended effect and have granted primacy of place to the traditionally male sphere of life, while simultaneously devaluing the typical attributes, virtues, and strengths of women.

Listen to this.

Devastating review of feminism, and finally hopeful. Excellent narration. Looking forward to the author's other works.

Illuminating history of modern feminism

Carrie Gress has written an excellent history of modern feminism, starting from the early roots and working through the stages to the present day. She describes the people involved and the ways that they spread their message. She also describes the impact of their actions on modern society and the damage they have done. Finally, she gives suggestions for a pathway back to genuine feminism. I highly recommend this book as well as her other books.

Exposing first wave feminism

Carrie Gress is a brilliant writer, able to assimilate and identify the origins of the problems that plague current culture. This book is a powerful tool to help everyone, young & old, find a path out of feminist servitude.

Content sets out helpful context

Sometimes too simplistic, but provides valuable context for the events which preceded current social and political thought. The reading was, to my ear, s distracting, and occasionally cringe worthy when the reader whines and becomes overly dramatic. Could have been better.

A Gentle and Firm Feminine Argument

The book unfolds the history and impact of the women who have showed our society for the past two centuries. Anyone who has looked at our world and wondered why things aren’t going well would be wise to read these pages.

Very helpful info for today’s women

THIS WAS A VERY HELPFUL HISTORY LESSON …. WOULD THAT IT HAD BEEN COMMON KNOWLEDGE AVAILABLE TO PAST GENERATIONS OF WOMEN….. IT POSSIBLY MAY HAVE SAVED MANY A RUINED RELATIONSHIP .

Brave Vision for Our Human Race

More often than not, understanding history illustrates our current state, as well as the direction we are heading. Ms. Gress illuminates the probable cause for many "feminist's" state of mind and irrational philosophies.

The history and data that almost no woman get!

Loved this book, and I hope that my 7 year old daughter reads this book when she’s older to hopefully inoculate her from the feminist’s lethal contagions!

Impactful presentation of feminist history

The popular historical narrative of feminism leaves out an abundance of details that are helpful for the motivational context for the three waves of the movement. This book does well at pulling these details from the historical record for a fuller understanding of the movement’s leaders and their motivations.

The book offers the openminded reader an education on this subject for a more informed viewpoint.
