Publisher's Summary

When you pray, are you talking to a God who exists? Or is God nothing more than your "imaginary friend", like a playmate contrived by a lonely and imaginative child?

When author Sam Harris attacked Christianity in Letter to a Christian Nation, reviewers called the book "marvelous" and a generation of readers - hundreds of thousands of them - were drawn to his message. Deeply troubled, Dr. Ravi Zacharias knew that he had to respond.

In The End of Reason, Zacharias underscores the dependability of the Bible along with his belief in the power and goodness of God. He confidently refutes Harris's claims that God is nothing more than a figment of one's imagination and that Christians regularly practice intolerance and hatred around the globe.

If you found Sam Harris' Letter to a Christian Nation compelling, this audiobook is exactly what you need. Dr. Zacharias exposes "the utter bankruptcy of this worldview." And if you haven't read Harris' book, Ravi's response remains a powerful, passionate, irrefutably sound set of arguments for Christian thought. The clarity and hope in these words will reach out to listeners who know and follow God as well as to those who reject God.

Great Philosophical Logic

Would you consider the audio edition of The End of Reason to be better than the print version?

Yes, good for people who hate reading. Philosophy is often dry on paper. This has the feel of a classroom lecture. A book would be good to highlight memorable points. Audio is hard for note taking, good for quick learning.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The End of Reason?

His knowledge of religion like Hinduism, Atheism, Christianity and Islam are unparalleled. With respect, he demolishes falsehoods.

Which character – as performed by Simon Vance – was your favorite?

...Rovi Zacharias was well performed.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The end of reason

Any additional comments?

Great book, I plan to buy several just give away!

I Have Enjoyed Zacharias...

via youtube in his talks and debates for some time now and especially respect his response to the vitral and hatred that spews forth from the "new atheists," headed up by Dawkins, Dennett, Harris and Hitchens. This book is the encapsulation of that argument against this false attack on Christianity and is a must read for the Christian in our current times.

Rock solid support of the Christian faith

This book should convince any person of the reality of their Creator - GOD. It's hard to refute the assertions and conclusions the author has come to

Reason must be reasonable

Would you listen to The End of Reason again? Why?

The End of Reason is a very effective rebuttal to the hypocritical and tyrannical stances of those who rabidly spew verbal waste in their quest of reviling a God that they don't want to exist. They can inflict no harm to God himself so they seek dictatorial and tyrannical methods akin to Pol Pot, Hitler, and Stalin on those who believe to attempt to quite them and those who correctly refuse to accept their empty, false and delusional stance. Ravi Zacharias brings reason while the opposition regardless of the soundness of his rebuttal, will refuse sound thinking and reason.

Exposes New Athesim for what it is - Hate

Ravi does a fantastic job of pointing out a great many facts that atheists seem to want to forget or only paint half stories about, such as Hitler being a Catholic, which assuredly is not telling the whole story.

'The difference between someone who "calls" himself or herself a Christian and yet kills and slaughters and an atheist who does the same thing is that the Christian is acting in violation of his or her own belief, while the atheist's action is the legitimate outworking of his or her belief.'

Ravi quotes atheists such as Peter Singer (professor of philosophy at Princeton) who believes that "a pig is of more value than a child who has a disability" to point out the heartless results of a Godless civilization. And atheist Sam Harris "If I had a magic wand with which to eradicate either religion or rape, I would choose to eradicate religion." Simply lays bare the insane hypocrisy of the new atheism movement and it's religious leaders.

The hypocrisy and bigotry of "new atheism" and their disciples is thoroughly brought to light as Ravi Zacharias does a amazing job just stating reality to you as it is today and historically.

The book is one of the best apologetic books I've listened to and is one that every person of any religion should read - very powerful and honest.

Short, but good

You could always count on Ravi to deliver on his speeches and books, this is no exception. I rarely finish an audiobook in one day, even this short, but I did this one. Sam Harris's critique of faith seemed to me to be hollow, chirping pointlessly at God for his "immoral" actions, when having no ground to stand on but the unconscious centuries of Judeo-Christian values that were tattooed onto himself and his ancestors. I fear for the future of the world, I expect society will take another Godless turn as it did in the 20th century, and we will all pay dearly, again. Christians everywhere will have to die either on the beaches, or in prisons to return chaos to order, and we will, gladly, if it brings peace and love and glory to the only one who is good, God.

AWESOME!

I love Ravi's teaching! I really appreciate his love for God and his Word, his passion for humanity is also very humbling. This for me is a great balance every Christian author should have.

Excellent read.

Ravi Zacharias presents an excellent defence of the Faith with coherent answers to the most difficult questions and also reveals the hopelessness of the new Atheists.

A Must Read

What is truth "every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD" without GOD there can only be chaos, that can only be the bottom line of the atheist. Ravi does a beautiful job of articulating these basic truths, highly recommend.

The Arguments Assume a Pre-existing Belief in God

Zacharias’s arguments are preached with the assumption that the listener is themselves a believer. This is despite his claims in the blurb that both atheists and Christians will identify with his “rationality” to at least some degree.

Would the world be worse without the widespread worship of God? He thinks yes. Yet this assumes that the listener believes in God’s grace, which of course they may not.

Read or listen to The End of Reason if you are desperate for a reason to cling on to your imaginary friend. Otherwise, don’t waste your time. This book is merely pseudoscientific thinking at its worst.

Refreshingly logical

Ravi Zacharias writes an erudite and truthful argument on a topic where one can easily find themselves flailing. He writing is a great resource for those who seek to deepen their knowledge in the arena of Christian apologetics. I have listened to many of his podcasts and recommend highly recommend his ministry.
