Publisher's summary
The final chapter in the best-selling, critically acclaimed Daevabad Trilogy, in which a con woman and an idealistic djinn prince join forces to save a magical kingdom from a devastating civil war.
Daevabad has fallen.
After a brutal conquest stripped the city of its magic, Nahid leader Banu Manizheh and her resurrected commander, Dara, must try to repair their fraying alliance and stabilise a fractious, warring people.
But the bloodletting and loss of his beloved Nahri have unleashed the worst demons of Dara’s dark past. To vanquish them, he must face some ugly truths about his history and put himself at the mercy of those he once considered enemies.
Having narrowly escaped their murderous families and Daevabad’s deadly politics, Nahri and Ali, now safe in Cairo, face difficult choices of their own. While Nahri finds peace in the old rhythms and familiar comforts of her human home, she is haunted by the knowledge that the loved ones she left behind and the people who considered her a savior are at the mercy of a new tyrant. Ali, too, cannot help but look back and is determined to return to rescue his city and the family that remains. Seeking support in his mother’s homeland, he discovers that his connection to the marid goes far deeper than expected and threatens not only his relationship with Nahri but his very faith.
As peace grows more elusive and old players return, Nahri, Ali, and Dara come to understand that in order to remake the world, they may need to fight those they once loved...and take a stand for those they once hurt.

Wonderful final chapter for this trilogy
I have loved this rich trilogy from start to finish. Such a perfectly realised world rich in the mythology of the Greater Middle East

Thoroughly entertaining and provides closure
I have enjoyed this trilogy, and the final instalment provided so many twists and turns that it kept you on your toes.
I love how everything tied together and fates are so intertwined, even in the final moments of the book new truths and revelations that were shocking, heartwarming and/or intriguing kept coming to light.
Great delivery by Nankani, hats off to her and the editor as I was particularly impressed and engaged by the timing and tone of delivery.
I read paperbacks of the first two, definitely preferred the audio experience of the third one!

Fantastic!
I enjoyed every minute of this trilogy! The adventures are amazing, the plot keeps twisting and stays exciting till the end. The setting of the story is magical,
excellent world building, so naturally and well written it all feels real. But most of all i loved the main characters, their dilemmas, emotions and choices and actions. Even after (just) over 70 hours of listening to this trilogy, i still wished it would continue. Thank you for these beautifully written and performed books, which immediately made it to my list of most favourite audiobooks!

Great ending to a fantastic trilogy!
An excellent series, complex and morally grey characters and situations, interesting world building. The ending was very satisfactory, tying up enough loose ends while leaving some things open. The narrator was also very good throughout, with each character's performance distinct.

Disappointed.
Expeted much more from the final book in this trilogy. But it was too boring, too depressing, too monotonous and very very slow. Lot's of repetiotions of all the horrible thigs that happend, lots of adjectives and repetetive words like "abomination".... No interesting development, in the last chapters it feels like the author suddenly decided to enter a twist ( in order mot to bore us to death) and changed the style of here writing, it really bugged me. I feel like i was forced into listening to the whole story, hoping with every minute that maybe it'll rise up and surprise.... At least it was so for me. I feel that this book should have be completely different. So, as i said DISAPPOINTING!

Holy moley
Wow! What a stunning conclusion.
As someone who exclusively reads romance/fantasy romance this was definitely a change of pace for me. I actually found it difficult to follow along with certain names and who they are/what they can do for the first couple of books but the effort paid off.
Can we talk about chapter 46? The way i was genuinely SOBBING knowing it had to happen but just being so devastated by it. I have never behaved this way while listening to/reading a book. Surely i wasn’t the only one? As much as i would’ve liked a tiny little bit more romance I’ve gotta say this was pretty god damn perfect.
I have got pretty good at predicting things but there were points in this book where i thought ‘where are they going to go from here!!??’
Thank you for a great listen.

The best series I have read for a long time
She creates a wonderful imaginary world of Arabic magic full of unexpected twists. Her descriptions of exciting cities both real and imagined made me want to visit Egypt and sit on the banks of the Nile.
The plot is unpredictable wild and full of a magic of soaring fantasy.
The story is partly a romance written from a woman's perspective but it is much more than that and as a man it was still very compelling for me.
The narration was good in that I was not aware of it although the narrator's range did not always allow all the characters to have identifiably different voices.
I don't critique books much and I frequently become bored and return them however I have no hesitation in recommending this series.

Painful
Such a difficult book to listen to due to constant change in narrators volume. She whispered through a large chunk of the story whilst mumbling and then was yelling the next moment. I found the book impossible to listen to when any background noise was present. So trying to enjoy the book when outdoors was impossible. People listen to books on the go so consistent volume is so important. You don’t tend to experience this problem with male narrators.

Fantastic end to the series
I absolutely devoured the series. Could not stop listening to the mesmerising foreign, magical names and the story. Loved the twists and changes. At times very descriptive but absolutely enthralling. Fitting end to this trilogy. Definitely will look for other books from this author

Story
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.
