E. Steven Hodges drank the entire pitcher of corporate Kool Aide as he became a master manipulator to climb the corporate ladder in pursuit of his idea of success. After unknowingly giving his corporate masters the information they needed to justify moving their entire manufacturing operation to Mexico, Steven Hodges realizes that he has betrayed the very people who worked to raise him and give him the opportunity to succeed in life. Steven transforms back into Elmer and leaves the corporate world behind as he works to renovate his childhood cabin where he plans to become a hermit. Elmer meets the girl of his dreams along the way, and the two pair up to construct a textbook version of a prepper’s homestead. Little did they know what their future held.

A different kind of survival story.

I liked it because this was a different kind of preparation and survival story. It was a good read.

Wonderful Story of Preparation

This is quite a preparation story. And the best part is the beautiful ending. There is love, sadness, and happiness all wrapped up in this wonderful story.

Virtual voice…why??

Virtual voice is horrible. This story is flat and lacks substance and the awful narration made it worse. I skipped chapters out of boredom.

Pathetic.

Let me listen to the whole thing in AI. While the 29-year-old with $650,000 in the bank talks about losing his roots yeah finds the hot girl who he instantly mounts. All while praying to God every other hour. I dropped to my knees and ask for forgiveness., and then she straddle me, I can’t ever forgive myself for sending jobs overseas, now mount my huge purple throbbing wonder stick

not a story as much as the author's wish list. There was not a page of conflict or character development, until the very (hurried) end of the book, and even then, the end of the world was a yawn moment. The author couldn't manage any emotional response to any devastating
situation. I definitely will not buy or read anything else the author's mange is attached to. Disappointing is too weak a response. what a waste of time and money!
