Publisher's summary

John Keel's disturbing follow-up to The Mothman Prophecies!

Is there a single intelligent force behind all religious, occult, and UFO phenomena?

Strange manifestations have haunted humans since prehistoric times. Beams of light, voices from the heavens, the "little people", gods and devils, ghosts and monsters, and UFOs have all had a prominent place in our history and legends. In this dark work, John Keel explores these phenomena, and in doing so, reveals the shocking truth about our present position and future destiny in the cosmic scheme of things.

Are we pawns in a celestial game?

In the Orient, there is a story told of the seven towers. These citadels, well hidden from mankind, are occupied by groups of Satanists who are chanting the world to ruin. Perhaps this is just a story; perhaps there is some truth behind it. But what if there is yet another tower, a tower not of good or evil but of infinite power? What if all our destinies are controlled by this cosmic force for its own mysterious purposes? And what if UFOs and other paranormal manifestations are merely tools being used to manipulate us and guide us toward the cosmic role we are fated to play? Perhaps, after all, we are not independent beings but are instead the creations and slaves of the eighth tower.

Good read, but unusually disjointed for Keel

I recommend this to any lover of Keel, but not to more casual readers of this genre and subject matter. Definitely very thought provoking up to the very last sentence, but the writing style was unusually disjointed for Keel. The rhythm and cadence from sentence-to-sentence and paragraph-to-paragraph felt a lot more rough than other works of his in this wheelhouse, such as Our Haunted Planet. Still something I will proudly have ob my bookshelf, nonetheless.

Narration was EXCELLENT. I love Michael Hacker, and he is also one of the few people that can really capture Keel's "writing voice". Recording quality and editing was perfect 👌

A bowl of Sativa and this to end the night

Expect to hear exaggerated narratives, but still a great deal of fun. Late night curiosities.

Very interesting. Thought provoking. It will definitely make you think and research Charles Fort work and this topic more. Personally i loved his voice.. I cant begin to tell you how many audio books I've listened to and the author was putting me to sleep lol. Great story and the information was amazing.

A great follow up to mothman prophecies

Very good book for anyone who's into the paranormal and high weirdness plus the possibility of the world not being exactly what we might think or atleast there's more to it

Good but...

There is something SINISTER about Michael Hacker’s voice. I found it difficult to separate Mr. Keel’s viewpoint and intentions for this book (generally a skeptical take on religious and UFO mythologies meant to encourage people to be wary of getting too deep into phenomena that are (still) not well understood) from Mr. Hacker’s sneering and paranoid tone. His is a compelling voice and commands attention but it just felt mismatched to the nature of the text.

That being said, highly recommended for fans of the paranormal, historians of American religion and the occult, etc.

Great book, poor performance

The narrated Michael Hacker sounds like he is mocking the witnesses every time he reads a quote by one. Making them sounds like some southern hick and uneducated. He needs to show more respect. Besides that its a great work by John Keel.

A unifying theory of human experience

Keels work is an objective treasure of connections & understanding everything misunderstood about the unknown.

Effective and everyone...

Should read this! Great overview of the complex and weird world we live in is. Keel is a man who cleared the fog and didn’t glaze over the obscure but obvious truths.
