Acerca de esta escucha
With her unmatched gift for illuminating the joys and challenges of love and family, New York Times best-selling author Luanne Rice now gives listeners a mesmerizing new novel that reaches back into the past to find the key to a boundless future. Neve Halloran and her daughter share a fierce love for the austere beauty of Rhode Island’s South County.
Now, with Mickey a teenager and Neve’s last hope for happiness with her daughter’s loving but unstable father gone, both will struggle to make a new life together amid the windswept landscape that sustains them. As winter gives way to spring, and spring to summer, a secret will emerge that has lain buried in the depths just offshore for decades, a secret that will galvanize the small seaside community.
For the waters bear their own vestige of the past - and their ceaseless rhythms may point the way to hope and new beginnings. Lyrical, luminous, and utterly captivating, The Edge of Winter is Luanne Rice at her most penetrating and insightful, in a moving exploration of the bonds that shape us and set us free.

Historia
Painter Honor Sullivan has made a life for herself and her three daughters–Regis, Agnes, and Cecilia–at Star of the Sea Academy on the magical Connecticut shore. Here she teaches art at the convent school’s beautiful seaside campus, over which Honor’s sister-in-law, mother superior Bernadette Ignatius, keeps a benevolent and watchful eye. No one could have foreseen the day rebellious Regis would come home with the stunning news that she was getting married. Nor could anyone have guessed how that sudden announcement would soon change all their lives forever.

Historia
After years away, Maura Shaw has returned to Newport, Rhode Island, to teach English at the academy. Behind her lies her life as the perfect Midwestern wife and mother, a life that seemed on the surface to be all she had ever wished for. Enjoyable
A great listen. Typical of Luanne Rice's other works this book has strong character and plot development and a well defined and delivered emotional context.

enjoyable
Slow at first, but enjoyable once you get into it. The descriptions of the landscapes were my favorite part.

couldn't get through it
I listened for about a hour and went back to the website to see if this book was in the Juvenile Fiction category. It was not. The story line was interesting enough, but there has to be more to the development of a relationship between characters than "looking deeply into each others' eyes." This happened one too many times for me and I wasn't halfway through the book. I don't plan to go back and finish it.
