Story
We tend to think of meditation as a formal practice we block time out for each day. But what if every moment of your life was your meditation? For Eckhart Tolle, meditation shouldn't be approached as a chore or a means to an end. Rather, meditation is something that you live. "The aim of meditation," states Eckhart, "is that it eventually becomes your normal state of consciousness." Essential Meditations with Eckhart Tolle points the way toward this quiet, constant state of Presence - where practice gives way to the realization of your innermost identity.

Forgiveness Is Freeing brings together Eckhart’s essential talks about shifting to a deeper perception of the self and how it frees us of our suffering. In these insightful lectures - including many simple practices - he shows us how our grievances are reactions to the artificial egos of others, how to bring nonjudgment and equanimity when others overstep our boundaries, how to forgive our own “past selves”, and what to do when the pain of our memories hijacks our emotions.

Story
In A New Earth, renowned spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle describes how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates. The purpose of this book is to bring about a shift in consciousness, or in his words, an awakening. An essential part of this awakening is the recognition of the ego, and our attachment to things, the past, and enemies. In Oneness with All Life, Eckhart Tolle has picked the essential phrases and paragraphs - the gems of the book - that he feels are most important and reorganized them so listeners can focus on the most powerful ideas.

Story
To be human is to suffer - and yet, according to Eckhart Tolle, all of these painful moments contain an opportunity for awakening. In Transforming Suffering into Peace, this celebrated teacher offers a new perspective on the ego and what he terms "the pain-body" - all the accumulated emotional wounds that follow us through life. Though the pain-body can easily rise up and hijack our consciousness with unpleasant emotions, in this program Eckhart reveals a hopeful truth - by turning the light of awareness on our suffering, that suffering becomes a powerful gateway to Presence.

Humanity now, perhaps more than in any previous time, has an opportunity to create a new, saner, more loving world. This will involve a radical inner leap from the current egoic consciousness to an entirely new one. In illuminating the nature of this shift in consciousness, Tolle describes in detail how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates. Then gently, and in very practical terms, he leads us into this new consciousness. We will come to experience who we truly are and learn to live and breathe freely.

Excellent resource
This is a perfect companion to the best-selling books, and by far the best value when purchasing from the large range of Tolle audio on offer. I found this most useful to just meditate with, or have on in the car. Don't expect a narrative or, really, any sense of structure here. This is, for want of a better word, him rambling. But the rambling is very useful. Once you accept the pace and tone of the lectures, you can relax into it, and enjoy the moments of great humour and insight. Like any of Tolle's work, you either get it and instantly revel in it's genius, or feel completely frustrated by it and find it to be nonsense. I felt the former.

Not for Casual Listening
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, if they were interested in meditation and spiritual development. Just like any subject you have to have an interest in it, otherwise it could be an excruciating experience. With Mr. Tolle I recommend borrowing one of his books to determine whether what he teaches resonates with you before purchasing his audiobooks.
What other book might you compare The Eckhart Tolle Audio Collection to and why?
I suppose anything written by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche or the Dalai Lama because there are kernels of truth within the writing that guide you to be a better human being.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
I believe it does. Mr. Tolle's voice is very soothing. He allows for frequent spaces in his discourse to both digest what is being taught and to be "naked" in the moment, as it were.
What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?
That we are constantly creating the story of "me" moment by moment. And we love to tell it to ourselves and others.
Any additional comments?
A word of warning - do not purchase this with the expectation of being entertained. Mr. Tolle does not talk excitedly nor enthusiastically about his subject. He is very calm, quiet, and soothing. He often produces significant gaps of time with no talking. He is sometimes funny. This is all for the purpose of bringing you to a calm, light, almost meditative state.

Simply Profound
Eckart Tolle is a modern age spirtual teacher, with a good sense of humor. Of course, depends on your taste in humor. However, his teaching, where he does not hestitate to borrow from various conventional religious teachings to the more obscure are easliy undertsood - putting them into practice you will find is not something you can 'plan to do'. Read and find out...

I love his live recordings. His voice is quiet, you hear him clear his throat and you hear the audience which makes these recordings feel real - It's like I am at the retreat myself, listening to powerful teaching and I can go to the retreat as often as I want, over and over. I am utterly grateful for these resources and listen to them almost everyday.

Excellent, Best to read the books first though
I found the books by this author to be helpful and powerful, and these recordings are also very helpful.
I think people may have quite different reactions to it depending on their experience and the way they see the world, but I'm sure for many it will be helpful. I did not find his accent difficult to understand, although it is unusual by North American standards. And I like his sense of humor!
If you have not read any of his books, this may not be the best introduction, as for much of the recording he is addressing audiences that are familiar with his material, and so takes some things for granted in his talk.
The first session in the recording is somewhat like a guided meditation, that continues for somewhere around 2 hours. Not exactly a meditation, because he is speaking the whole time, but constantly inviting the audience to connect with their immediate experience and "enter the now". Recorded at a retreat, it really led me into a nice learning experience. I've listened to it more than once, and you needn't necessarily listen to the whole thing, you can drop in and out of it as well.
Well worth listening to!

Good information
Where does The Eckhart Tolle Audio Collection rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It is similar to most of his teachings but as with most of his teachings, he has the same basic teachings, he is not trying to add anything to the listener. The purpose of his teachings is to point to the truth. Once you recognize the truth, no matter which book of his you listen to. There have been a couple of his teachings that brought me to awakening. This was my first Eckhart Tolle audio. I had to listen to several others such as the Power of now, but it took listening to practicing the power of now for me to "get it"
If you’ve listened to books by Eckhart Tolle before, how does this one compare?
It is similar to all of his teachings. I recommend practicing the power of now as it gives most of his message as well as some meditations included.

a compulation of his work and very interesting
Would you consider the audio edition of The Eckhart Tolle Audio Collection to be better than the print version?
in his style of audio you become very relaxed and mellow listening to his voice and it almost has a hipnotic effect as his voice and style and humor entertain and captivate the listener
Who was your favorite character and why?
all his little jokes and his style of laughing at himself and his whacky observations
What three words best describe Eckhart Tolle’s voice?
hipnotic
What did you learn from The Eckhart Tolle Audio Collection that you would use in your daily life?
so many points that it would take a notebook to fill
Any additional comments?
looking forward to getting a collection of his audio books to study and learn

Love Eckhart but the Recording Needs Some Work
What made the experience of listening to The Eckhart Tolle Audio Collection the most enjoyable?
Hearing Tolle speak.
Have you listened to any of Eckhart Tolle’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Any additional comments?
I love the compilation which includes some of Tolle's greatest words of wisdom. But between each recording is the publisher's message which becomes very annoying after the second repetition.

Great overall view of Eckhart’s teachings
I liked this selection of Eckhart’s talks, which were a good summary of his overall teachings and the concepts that he employs to deliver his message. There’s a pretty much every topic covered here from body awareness to the pain body and present moment awareness. The last talk was also of interest considering it was delivered around the time of 9/11.
