Publisher's summary

Allen Carr's Easyway is the most effective stop-smoking method of all time and it has now been successfully applied to a wide range of other issues. Here the method focuses on one of the fastest-growing problems of modern times for women: drinking.

Alcohol blights women's lives often in a distinctly different way to men's: women tend to stay at home drinking alcohol; women often feel particular shame over drinking too much; drinking around children can be a particular burden. In summary there are a lot of added pressures on women to stop drinking, and often they feel this is an impossible task.

Luckily, Allen Carr's Easyway makes it easy to stop drinking. It's the tried-and-tested cessation method that really works. With startling insight into why women drink and clear, simple, step-by-step instructions, Allen Carr shows you the way to escape from the alcohol trap in the time it takes to listen to this audiobook.

Great for those who are willing to accept help.

I read some of the negative comments here and as a recovering alcoholic, I can say that these are people who just aren't ready to quit drinking yet. I know because I've been there. It's why AA didn't work for me. I didn't like the idea of labeling myself as a alcoholic. I wasn't ready to accept that alcohol wasn't benefitting me... and sponsors?? (aka babysitters) no thank you..... It's easy to find flaws in ANY advice and see it as condescending when you aren't ready to accept you're an alcoholic and be humble enough to admit that you don't know everything and just keep your mouth shut and listen to those who have already been there, done that and got the t-shirt.

But that changed when I was about to lose my marriage to drinking, and my 4yr old son started pointing out my drinking.... It wasn't until then that I decided to stop being a stubborn a-hole and to shut up and listen. That's when I started making progress.

I was a heavy drinker for 10 years and had tried quitting multiple times. I had already accepted I was an alcoholic when I read this book and had already tried several methods over the course of a year, (AA, therapy, support groups, other books). I was committed to finding a way to help me stop drinking no matter what it took. I read this book and the lightbulbs went off and I have been sober for two weeks (which is a huge feat, with the other methods I couldn't get past 3-4 days). Yes, it's a common-sense book and it does tell you a lot of things you already know, but it reiterates them time and time and time again. The fact of the matter is, until you accept that drinking is providing you NO benefits whatsoever, you will continue to drink. And I don't just say that because this is what the book says, I say it because it's true.

This book is about reinforcing the mindset that alcohol is a poison, it does NOTHING for you, it only makes you miserable and the benefits you THINK you get from drinking are just an illusion. Again, all things I already knew, but when you hear it from someone else, it just seems to sink in more.

If you're ready to accept that alcohol is ruining your life and it is taking more from you than it is giving, then this book will help you take the final step in solidifying that mindset and quitting for good.

I gave the performance 3 stars only because I wasn't a huge fan of the narrator's voice, but if you can get past that, this book is very helpful.

Life changing

This book is the only thing between me and rehab. I’m a 30 something year old with two small children. I listened to this book in a day and haven’t had a single drink since. I also went on a beach vacation only two sober days in!! I had a few cravings throughout each day but as soon as I got a sparkling water and ate something the cravings were gone. I have absolutely no desire to drink and never thought that could EVER happen. If I can do it you can do it.

This book delivered for me

I always knew AA wouldn't work for me. So, when I knew I was in serious trouble with alcohol, l did some research and became convinced AA was a bad bet for anyone. I stumbled into Allen Carr rather by accident in Stephen Guise's Mini Habits. I got the ebook, then when nearing the final steps got the audible book as well. I doubled back twice to re-read before entering the last steps, then finished with the audio. Following my ritual last drink, l immediately had no more desire for alcohol. Until then I was afraid of failing to quit, but no more.

Made the world of difference

I highly recommend. Read it the first time and didn't finish (big mistake). I quit for a few weeks but went back. I opened the book a second time over the past summer 2019. I have not had a drink since Labor Day 2019. I finished the book the second time. I went back to certain chapters to review. I think that is important to mention. I truly believe that Allen Carr gave me the edge to do it. I have drank for 30 years and got into very bad habits. His book for women really gets into how and why women turn to drink. I say give it a try.

It helps. Seriously!

This book completely changed the way I view sobriety. I’m not sad or irritated, My cravings get smaller by the week, and I’m prepared to live sober.

Surprisingly Effective

I downloaded the book at 4:30 in the morning after a night where I vowed (again) to quit drinking. I listened to it straight through, going step by step. I have not had a drink since and have no desire. The mindset shift this book provides is amazingly effective and simple to embrace. While I have a long road to go, I've found letting go of drinking to be easier than I thought as I focus on the benefits of not drinking and the downside of drinking. Thanks for this life-changing resource. ;0)
