The Earl's Son

The Earl’s Son is a novella set in a fantasy medieval-like world that blends adventure and romance.
Lord Filbert falls in love with a commoner, Sally, but she flees from him after learning that their marriage was false. Sally gives birth to Lord Filbert’s son without naming him as the father. She is kidnapped when her village is pillaged, but hides the boy named Salvo in the bushes and he's rescued, the only survivor of the attack to be found alive. The boy is raised by foster parents and trained in archery. Years pass and Salvo and Lord Filbert’s legitimate children from a later marriage find themselves embroiled in a war with the same people who kidnapped Salvo's mother. Lord Filbert and Salvo encounter Sally and other captives and are able to return them to their homeland, but will she ever tell Salvo who is father was? And will Sally ever forgive the now-widowed Lord Filbert for his deceit so many years before?
