Sheer pleasure
I loved it when I first read it back in the 70s... and I still think it's one of the best war stories ever. This audio version is very well read and produced - almost faultless. Thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it without reservation.

Brilliant.... Such a well told believable story.
If you have watched the film with Michael Caine then you'll know what a good story this is. I had not anticipated that the book would fill in many more gaps and add to the story much more than the screenplay would lead you to believe. So even if you have seen the film, it's well worth listening to this full version.

Great War adventure writing
If you have not read it. you have missed a treat. I think Higgins best work. Strong characters and plot with a bit of mystery twisted in.
Himmler, paratroopers, e-boats, fools and heroes. This story has it all.

Excellent narration. Gripping story
If like me, you’ve only ever seen the movie, you’ll notice how it deviates from the book. The story is gripping and I think the narration is excellent with a wide range of character voices to draw you in. Well worth waiting for. I pictured Michael Caine as Colonel Steiner as I listened, as he was great in the role and it made the whole listening experience even more vivid. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Still Enthralling After All These years
I first read the Eagle Has Landed as a young child and was mesmerized by the story and totally shocked when I discovered it was true! So I was a bit hesitant to get the audio version in case it didn't live up to my expectations or even spoiled the book for me ... but I'm glad I eventually got it.
The audiobook is an absolutely brilliant version of this classic WWII page-turner.
If I had one small criticism it would be Liam Devlin's accent. In the beginning of the book the accent is a cross between a Southern Irish accent and a Belfast (North Irish) accent. The accent, of course, should be a Northern Irish accent (not the Southern Irish accent Donald Sutherland has in the film).
As the story progresses the narrator, Peter Noble, does get better at this and the accent does get stronger. American listeners won't be able to tell the difference but as this accent has gained more common usage on TV I think most Scottish and Welsh listeners will be able to tell the difference while the English just won't care ;) .
Noble does a great job throughout though. And, it goes with saying that the story is fantastic, as is the writing style.
This book is a must-read/must-listen for anyone who has even a slight interest in history, WWII or even the Irish Troubles.

A well known story read well
While the film provides the excitement and story, the audiobook delivers the full banquet the author provided. Great narration.

Very Entertaining Audio
Very entertaining Audio book. Importantly, you don't require an organisation chart to work out how each character is connected. In the same genre as Alistair Maclean

Peter Smith
One of the most enjoyable books I have ever read/listened to. From start to finish the characters, the story lines and the included voices was just memorable. I am a Jack Higgins enthusiastic reader but I have just read this after so many others books of his, this being one of his best. It was my first Audible book as well and the voices of Peter Noble throughout were truly enjoyable right to the end. The final chapter topped it all!

True or False?
So well performed by Peter Noble that it held my attention throughout. The speculation about the attempted assassination of Churchill is really enhanced by the storyline and the distinction that’s made between the nazi party and the German soldiers is excellent. To present the storyline in retrospect is a clever move by Higgins. Love this book and will add it to my favourites

The Eagle has Landed
Great story by Jack Higgins, with suspense action and great captivating characters. This audiobook only has on flaw and it’s a nit pick at that almost didn’t think I should mention it at first. The narrator though talented and easy to understand sometimes blended characters with the same voice or accent even though ones Irish, British or German or even female. Subtle but otherwise an excellent audiobook worthy of having in you collection if you enjoy WW2 fiction and action adventure.
