Publisher's summary

The hills of Western Massachusetts contain dark and terrible secrets. Strange families keep to themselves and practice rites of ancient and unspeakable black magic. These dreadful and unholy rituals give birth to a monstrosity beyond imagination, a monstrosity that threatens mankind itself! Can a brave handful of intrepid scholars hope to confront the otherwordly destruction of “The Dunwich Horror”?

H.P. Lovecraft's classic tale is dramatized and brought to life in the style of a 1930s radio drama, complete with a large cast of actors, original music, and thrilling sound effects.

Just get everything by H.P. Lovecraft Society

Well, they did it again. I will admit that I never made the connection between the H.P. Lovecraft Society and their incredible game aides for Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu (particularly Masks of Nyarlathotep). These are quality products ... and my word, these audio theater-like pieces are the equivalent. SUPERB acting, a touch of appropriate music and sound effects; it is as if I am at the theater watching a small modest, and yet wonderful performance. I AM HOOKED, as you should be also. Go get everything they have released, and thank me later.

Great story

Playing Arkham Horror LCG and about to go into Dunwich Legacy campaign. This was a great rendition of the Lovecraft story, leaving nothing out, with awesome flavour.

Top tier spooky

A fun performance of the classic cosmic horror story reinvented countless times due to its agelessness. A very compelling and interesting story only made easier to follow thanks to the voice cast and performances. My only issue was there was many instances of someone panicked and describing what they saw which certainly breaks the immersion some, but I do understand the necessity of it. It’s just funny to hear someone say “Wow how queer, you’ve done these very odd changes and adjustments to your home that I will explain in explicit detail”. I suppose it’s a weakness of the style the story was written in. Despite that “flaw” the story was engaging and interesting!

I think it is great

This is great. It is the best of the seven HPLHS dramatic presentations that I have listened to. So far it is my favorite. Please make more.

A Great Adaptation by the HPLHS

I think this would be a nice way of getting people into Lovecraft. Bit easier to understand for some than how Lovecraft writes.

Love the Radio Drama aspect!

I hope to become a lifetime member myself one day.

The best way to experience this book

I throughly enjoyed listening to this. I have read almost every Lovecraft book or short story there is and can attest that these productions by the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society are the best way to consume his literature.

Great Adaptation of One of My Favorites

This was the first episode of Dark Adventure Radio Theater I bought. I wanted to see if the quality of production was good enough to get any of the others. I have since bought every episode. These are so good and I've been listening to them non-stop. This episode does a great job of fleshing out scenes and adding characterization without ever becoming hoaky. Anyone who is a fan of the Suspense episode with Ronald Colman should love this as its a more complete version of the story with the same old time radio feel. Keep these coming!
