Flat ! No excitement !

I'm disappointed by this book. EJ is a good author but something I missing in this book . I lost interest midway thought the book. The story line was dull! I love the narrator but she had little to work with

Bizarrely bad. Olivia is not a good main character at all. Whiny and rude and disrespectful and selfish. But the capper really is the terrible awful useless trip to France after they have basically finished the plot. The only possible explanation is a word count requirement. NOTHING even remotely related to the princess and the pea. No idea why it’s in this series. Save your credit.

Worst romance I've read in a while.

What would have made The Duke Is Mine better?

The entire story consists of the heroine complaining about how fat she is. "I'm so fat blah blah blah. No one could love me. My breasts are too big" etc....Not only was she a fatty, but she had a terrible personality. She's rude, insensitive, and has no thought for her family.

Her twin sister is kind, funny, generous, and pretty, but no...the hero wants the mean fat chick.

The entire romance made NO sense. They had nothing in common and no mutual interests. She actually mocks the hero's interest in mathematics. The only attraction between the hero and heroine is that he gets randy looking at her fat rolls. The hero came across as some creeper browsing a fetish magazine.

Also, I didn't find it entertaining, hot or exciting to hear the heroine rattle on about her body issues. Yes, we all have them, but I don't want to have to listen to someone else complain for 10 hours. If I wanted to hear chicks complain about their low self esteem I would call my girlfriends, not spend an audible credit.

Would you ever listen to anything by Eloisa James again?

Yes. I listened to Beauty and the Beast story by Eloisa James and absolutely loved it. I thought it was sweet, funny and completely entertaining. The Duke is Mine was nothing like the Beauty and the Beast. I know it was supposed to be a "princess and the pea" type story, but I think Ms. James was trying to compare her fat heroine (the princess) and her twin sister (the pea). It simply didn't work.

What about Susan Duerden’s performance did you like?

She does a great job. Always.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I was angry I spent money on the book. Disappointed that the book wasn't as good as the other books I've read from her and sad that I wasted my time.

Boring and contrived - ridiculous female lead character. I could not finish. This author is usually better than this book.

A bizarre tale

Having read many by the same author, this was the toughest Eloisa James to get through. The story took a real left turn just to get a stacked mattress reference to call it a princess and the pea retelling
