The Driving Lesson--Lifetime Learning Leaves Marks
Ben Reeder is an amazing author. I really enjoyed his series, and had only read those. Error on my part, I have missed being touched by The Driving Lesson. Charley and Opa take a wild ride from Texas to the Great Northwest. One is 14, freshman; the other, his 62 year old grandpa. It has sweet humor, moral dilemmas, legal questions, hard choices, and a truly memorable story.
For a change of pace, this surprising quick read will be one of your newest favorite!

An interesting tale
This book dramatizes and personalizes the issues around assisted suicide in an engaging way. It doesn’t go into deep politics, but rather looks at it through the eyes and experience of a teenager on the brink of adulthood.
I found it moving and thought provoking. But also, laugh out loud funny.
The narrator does a great job with the YA main character and is engaging throughout.

I loved the relationship Charlie and his grandpa shared. I think their time together was important and meaningful. I think his parents were out of line to interfere with the road trip. It upset me that they kept trying to insinuate themselves in a private time. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job.

Beautifully told
This book was totally different from the other Ben Rehder books I've listened to. Charlie is picked up by his grandfather on the last day of school and the story follows their journey to Seattle. A beautiful way to tell what is both a heartbreaking and uplifting story, dealing with difficult issues. With some moral guidance from his grandfather as well, Charlie learns about life on their trip. The book was just the right length, well narrated and beautifully told.

Heartwarming
Format: audiobook
Narrator: Maxwell Glick
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
This book follows a road trip of a teenage lad and his terminally ill grandpa who wants the right to choose a medically assisted suicide, fond memories are made and it brings a spotlight to the debate of this sensitive subject when their journey becomes national news.
This is an emotional but inspirational story, heartbreaking but also incredibly heartwarming.
The narrator was perfect for this story and did an incredible job in his narration.

Beautiful but keep the tissues handy
OMG what a beautiful and heartbreaking story about a young boy and his father on the road trip of their life after his Grandfather is given a horrible diagnosis. After loosing my Grandad some years ago this is the kind of trip I wish we could have made together and the story of this man and his beloved grandson made me laugh and cry and I did not want it to end.
