Publisher's Summary

Annie is the dream wife. Supportive, respectful, admiring - everything her husband wants her to be. And nothing at all like who she really is....

Annie is a prisoner in her own life. Her finances, her routine and her contact with the outside world are all controlled. Annie's only reason for holding it together is her little boy. Her time with him keeps her sane, and at night she escapes into a dreamworld where the two of them are free.

But Annie is about to do a very bad thing.

And you won't believe how she is going to do it....

This book will stay with me .... for a long time

WOW! I read a lot of books and equally listen to even more ... This one however will remain with me for a long long time. Clare Corbett was the only reason I chose this book as I think she is fantastic! Her ability to change accent as well as gender is short of remarkable as she makes you feel like you are listening to different narrators. I didn't really know what the book was about other than it was a murder / thriller ... I became so engrossed in this book and perhaps because I have a little boy around the same age who has a rabbit but once the inital similarities had been acknowledged that was it I was hooked. The end I had to turn off because it made me cry... On the second listen I cried some more and instantly restarted the book again to listen from the start. I NEVER re read a book or indeed listen twice. This one just got to me.
I hope it is a book that you enjoy - I doubt it will affect many in the way that it did me, I think that is just a personal thing - like all books. Do give it a go though even if it's just to listen to Clare Corbett

Good

Narration was great especially the baby voices - adorable! A little predictive for me but still thoroughly enjoyed and really wanted to get to the end to see what the 1st to 3rd person narrative was all about!

disappointing

The narrator was the best part of this book. I really wanted to like this book but got to the end feeling like it had been a bit of a pointless story.

Great story...............

Until the end. I really , really enjoyed this until the last 30 minutes or so. The ending, in my opinion ruined the whole story.

Enjoyable

I found this enjoyable to listen to, the narrator was good, not exceptional and her baby voices were irritating. The story was predictable. I purchased it based on the reviews promising a twist. If you have any imagination it is pretty obvious what is going on after about 1/3 of the book. It is easy listening, not annoying, entertaining but hardly a literary masterpiece.

Narration and Story

Excellent narration. The dreamwork comes into perspective if you look at the events and, at the end, like a jigsaw, put them into some semblance of plausibility.......abused wife dreams of killing her husband and, after she really kills him, is in denial and enters into another dreamworld and then stumbles on the truth while detained in a secure hospital. The ending I felt could have been clearer. Nevertheless, kept me listening to the end.

From this perspective, it is a predictable storyline without a twist and that is the twist I guess.

initially annoyed me

I struggled with parts of the book which I can't reveal without giving away the storyline. however I persevered and I'm glad I did. it was refreshingly different and gave a better understanding of the character and her experience. The ending had a twist but by the time we got there I had more or less guessed it. a great little read and the only reason I didn't give 5 * is because she could have elaborated a little more at the end.

Make sure you get to the end!

I enjoyed this book although the dream part was a bit odd at first it did all come together at the end.
I love this narrator really easy to listen to.
