Publisher's Summary

A lonely, 4,000-year-old dragon discovers his fated mate.... Too bad his mate is engaged to a woman.

The endless stream of lovers dragon lord Matías Tilly parades through his life hasn't helped him feel less alone. Finding his fated mate should help him escape his loneliness. At least, that's how it's supposed to work. Unluckily for Matías, his mate's happily engaged to be married...to a lovely woman.

Ryan Hall has always sought his father's approval; every decision in his life stems from him trying to be good enough. The validation he craves never materialized. It has, however, led to an engagement to his best friend. Except...they're both gay.

When the two meet, Matías must face that his heart is bound to another. Ryan must struggle with the thought that being true to himself might cost him everything. Oh, and Ryan doesn't know that Matías is a dragon shifter, so that's going to be a surprise.

Loved It

I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I really got a sense of who Ryan and Matias were and the strong and immediate chemistry they both shared. I also loved a number of the supporting characters and wished I could have seen more of them. I found the world of this story fascinating with the different paranormal beings and powers. This is the first book I've read/listened to by this author and I definitely want to pick up the others from this series. The narrator of this story was Aaron Ross. I'll admit I didn't care for his voice at first. There's just this gritty quality to it that I wasn't a fan of. But it grew on me and I ending up really enjoyed it. And I'm glad to see he narrated other books in this series that I hope to listen to.

Interesting story with good narration

This is part of a series, but stands on its own quite well.
Matias is a dragon waiting to meet his fated mate. He meets Ryan and is stunned to find that his fated mate is engaged to someone else!
Once the whole misunderstanding is worked out, there's still so e family drama to get through.
Ryan and Matias were good to and for each other, even though they were an unlikely couple on the surface (a cop and a twinky dragon).
Aaron Ross is new to me and did a good job with the narration. I always knew which character was speaking and he has a nice cadence. Would like to listen to the other books based on his narration.

Living truthfully

Matias and Ryan have a lot of chemistry going for them, along with plenty of misconceptions and incomplete knowledge. Their road is certainly bumpy and this story includes more humans than usual, along with a few Fae. I’m guessing the series will move in a new direction from here based on the ending tease. I’ve enjoyed listening to these books and Aaron Ross does a good job.

Fun series

I’ve been having so much fun listening to this series. It’s great to get to see the different relationships and characters develop. Matthias and Ryan had some seriously intense chemistry going for them. And Ryan being a human made it a bit difficult since he didn’t know about mates and was planning to marry his friend to make things convenient for them. The world building works a lot better if you have been reading the series in order from the first book. I really loved this addition to the series!

I love this series!!

I love this world that the author has created!! Mathias is a dragon lord that has waited four thousand years to find his mate only for him to be marrying someone else. Ryan is marring his best friend in order for their parents to leave them alone. They are a beard for one another. When they meet, Mathias realizes what Ryan is to him, but Ryan is human and doesn’t know other than an intense connection, chemistry and insta-love. They have a few obstacles to get thru before they can be together. Aaron Ross does a fantastic job with the narration. Each voice is clear and distinct. Overall, a great story! The story was really well written and kept me engaged, the pacing flowed smoothly, highly recommend.

fun with dragons

This is a great escape story, fun dragons, some angst, lots of misunderstanding and so much smexiness. Ryan and Mathias will burn up your speakers.
I will say be careful going in to this as a stand alone. I had read it could be and have not heard/read the previous books. While the romance can definitely be a stand alone, there is world building that I can only guess happened in earlier books.
Aaron Ross has a very intriguing voice and it completely pulled me in. A very enjoyable listen.

Great listen!

Another great add to the series! I love each couple and personalities. Great chemistry and are beyond hot. This book starts us off one a new trail from the pervious books which had a main plot for a enemy; here we get new mysteries and more things to explore. Aaron Ross is fantastic at bringing them to life! Can't wait for the next.

4.5 stars for both the story and the narration

Beth and Sara are together and Ryan is Sara's best friend. Saras brother was trying to force her to marry a sleazy guy named Jason. Not to mention their families would disown them if they found out their true selves. So they decide to marry each other for show.

Matias waited 4 thousand years to find his fated mate and is devastated to find that his fated mate is marrying someone else. Not knowing the details he decides to walk away. He didn't want to break up a couple in love.

This is a new to me narrator and I think they did a really good job. Their voice was pleasant to listen to and they kept a good pace. I didn't need to adjust the speed very much. They expressed all the emotions really well. There wasn't a whole lot of difference in his tone of voice for the 2 MCs but he did do more of an accent for Matias so it was easy to follow who was speaking and he did do some of the side characters voices such as the women and it made for a really enjoyable listen.

Families of all kinds

Ryan and Matias are fated mates with some big hurdles to overcome, especially Ryan's engagement and his attempts to always please his family. Fortunately, the engagement is to a lifelong friend with secrets of her own and as the pregnancy storyline kicks in, Ryan's family get in gear with grandparent mode. Aaron Ross does a wonderful job with all these characters.

When your fated mate belongs to another

I’m enjoying this series and was happy to pick up the next instalment. This book finds Lord Matias, a 4000-year-old dragon, languishing. He’s had plenty of lovers, but has yet to meet his fated mate. Then one night he goes to a bar and meets the man. Just one problem – the mate is engaged to a woman.

Matias is willing to walk away, but Ryan doesn’t fade from his life. Instead, they meet up again and soon they’re enjoying the pleasure of each other’s company. Ryan admits he’s engaged to his best friend – a lesbian – to make their families happy. But it’s never enough and soon things start falling apart.

Ryan has to choose between the man he’s fallen in love with and appeasing his family. Oh, and if he chooses Matias, he isn’t just letting his family know he’s gay. There’s the whole dragon shifter thing…

I enjoyed the story very much, as I have all of the books. And Aaron Ross’s great narration added to my enjoyment. I can’t wait for the next instalment.

Great narration!

This series is amazing and this book is one of my favorites. I enjoyed a lot witnessing Matías and Ryan's story and how their bond were above any doubt, misunderstanding, shocking discovery and obstacle they could find. Mr. Ross made a wonderful job with the narration and his performance and smooth voice fitted beautifully the story. A great narration!

Well Done Opposites Attract Romance

I've read several of the books in C.K. Noel's High Garden Dragons series, and I think they stand alone just fine.

The focus of The Dragon Lord's Love is on Matías and Ryan's relationship. There's family drama, coming out, fated mates, and a big case of opposites attract. I enjoyed the strong characters C.K. Noel writes.

The audio version is nicely performed by Aaron Ross. This narrator has a vast array of voices and does a great job of fitting them with the characters' personalities.

Have loved this series.

Such a great series.

I recommend starting on book one and working your way through them as the story continues with each book/audio. Not stand-alone.

Maria's is a dragon lord and has given up trying to find his fated mate. Wanting to give up and walk away from everything.

That was before a brief meeting with Ryan, only Ryan was there with his fiancee.

This is a great story, full of ups and downs. Delayed mating,
Great reading, keeping you riveted throughout the book. Highly recommend.

I going to miss this series and the characters. I hope there's a spin off series.

Good narration from Aaron Ross, but I did speed up on Audible, which is usual for me, but clear and concise. I will be looking for the next book in the series.

A great additon to the series

I really like this series and I am always surprised by the new ideas.
Who would have thought that behind a Twink hides a powerful dragon? Mathias is a very likeable protagonist. He met his fated mate in a bar, but Ryan is planning his wedding right now. It was very heartbreaking how Mathias retreated as a result, sad and confused.
I loved the sizzling chemistry that exists between the two. Ryan tries to do the right thing, but he can't forget Mathias either.
It was nice to meet some characters from the previous volumes again.
Things get really exciting towards the end and the preview for the next volume sounds very interesting.

Aaron Ross did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life. I enjoyed listening to him as he chose the voices for the protagonists well and he potrayed the emotions well
