Jackson is always eager to visit his aunt Sarah at her anthropological digs. This time she's in England, at Stonehenge, and Jackson's particularly excited to see the massive and mysterious stone formations in person. A beast no one has ever seen before is on the prowl and Jackson must rush to stop it before it can kill again. Can he solve the mystery of the inhuman monster that is stalking the countryside - before it's too late?

Critic reviews

“Even reluctant readers won’t be able to put this one down.” ( Booklist)
"[T]he intriguing premise and suspenseful, fast-paced action will surely please readers who like horror stories with a bit more substance than the latest Pike or Stine." ( School Library Journal)

Favorite for years.

Loved the series since I was a kid. Started out with loch and have been reading them every time I could get my hands on them. Very easy to reread.

A Timeless Adventure that Transcends Generations!

Paul Zindel's "The Doom Stone" has left an indelible mark on my reading journey. As I revisited this captivating tale after over a decade, I was instantly transported back to the thrill and wonder I felt as a young reader. This book effortlessly surpasses even the Goosebumps series, both in its ability to captivate young minds and its enduring appeal to adult readers.

"The Doom Stone" is a masterful blend of mystery, adventure, and a touch of the supernatural, making it a literary gem that transcends generational boundaries. Zindel's storytelling prowess shines through vivid characters, an intricately woven plot, and an atmosphere that immerses you in the world he's created.

What sets this book apart is its ability to evolve with its readers. As a child, I was enamored by the eerie events and the sense of discovery that kept me turning pages. Now, as an adult, I find new layers of depth in the characters' emotions and the underlying themes that resonate with life's complexities.

In today's fast-paced world, "The Doom Stone" serves as a reminder of the power of imagination and the joy of losing oneself in a well-crafted narrative. Whether you're revisiting it like me or picking it up for the first time, this book promises an unforgettable journey that spans time and age, leaving you with a renewed appreciation for the art of storytelling.

This is my favorite childhood book.

As a child and young adult I absolutely hated reading, this was the first book I picked up and couldn't stop reading. I subsequently bought every single Paul in the monster book and read them.
