Elizabet Johnson’s face is badly disfigured, and no-one in polite society will wed her. In a desperate attempt to have her married off by Christmas, Elizabet’s parents ship her out West as a Mail Order Bride, informing Elizabet they have fulfilled their obligations to her.
Andrew Morrison longs to be wed. Entering into correspondence with Elizabet, Andrew believes she is all that he hopes for, and offers marriage. But when he discovers too late, that his bride is hideously disfigured, he is horrified.
Outraged at the deception he none the less, holds to the bargain and weds her, but his resentment seeps through their every interaction.

Story is not what is advertised
The story i just listened to was about a man who had left the Amish, done many things but was widowed with an infant son. Driving away from sorrow he was aimless till a few wrong turns and a car accident led him back to his family and the woman he had left 10 years before. The virtual voice was very flat to listen to and the story was less compelling due to the computer voice reading the story
