Publisher's summary

A. H. Almaas, whose writings brilliantly illustrate the unity of modern depth psychology and traditional spiritual wisdom, is a respected, pioneering teacher. Jack Kornfield has called him "one of the most significant voices for a new and remarkably integrated spiritual vision."

Now for the first time ever, Almaas has created with Sounds True an accessible audio introduction to his lifetime of work. The Diamond Approach features insights refined from Almaas' 30 years of teaching, including how he has helped thousands around the globe "do the work" by investigating reality, developing emotional wholeness, uncovering their true essence, and realizing the non-duality of being.

Requires patience, worth it

For me this is the connective tissue between spiritual concepts and hopes and everyday psychological reality.

Good Interview, not a book!

Good oportunitie to listen to Almaas.

Don't consider an audio book. It's more like an Interview with Almaas.

Diamond Approach gives solid growth

I have been a student of the Diamond Approach for 15 years. Inquiry has changed my life. I feel I am more centered in my true self and less in the ego. Reading this book can be helpful but actually participating in the work will help one digest the depths of what is presented. #innergrowthwithdiamondapproach

Rich exploration for experienced practitioners

Very in depth and rich in content. This may not be content suitable for beginners. But those experienced with practices like Buddhism, Hinduism, Kabbalah, etc, will certainly be able to follow the exploration that Almaas takes us through. Certainly, those who have had spiritual experiences in the past will relate. To beginners it may feel like meaningless babble or a “pamphlet” as one reviewer wrote. But if you’re a spiritual practitioner, this talk is nourishing content.

'when the student is ready...'

Not easy to follow at times, this takes concentration. Glad i came back to listen after a failed 1st attempt and found the later chapters to resonate with my own experience.

Awakening to the Here and Now

Almaas is a teacher of inner work. This audio book is a series of interviews. I read some of his books before and found them to be very good. This interview was excellent. He explains in some detail the different aspects of what he teaches. This is not the kind of audio you would get much out of while performing another activity. It requires full attention, and it would not be interesting to anyone who is looking for some way of succeeding better in their external life. It's all about the inner world; external reality often seems to bring up the inner reactions that we work to dis-identify from. Eventually, it may be revealed to us that the distinctions if inner and outer life don't really exist. It's possible to see, if even just for a few moments, that everything that "exists" springs from non-existence. I listened to this interview over several days. After it ended I really seemed to have the sense of what the inquiry was about. It's not difficult in the sense of understanding what it is. But it is difficult in terms of developing the skill of it.

It may be important to note that while I appreciate the interviews, lectures, and writings of Almaas, I have not been impressed by his followers. (Though I have only met a handful of them.)

Many Deep Insights

Would you listen to The Diamond Approach again? Why?

Certainly I would listed to the Diamond Approach many more times as this is the sort of informations that expands with time. Each time I listen I hear something that I have never heard before and am amazed at the deep insights into human potential and functioning. Brilliant

Who was your favorite character and why?

N/A

Have you listened to any of A. H. Almaas’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no this was the first i have heard of him.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

For me it was a book that I savored many times and would only listen to in short segments.

Any additional comments?

I would like to see more of the authors original books be available as the interview method of this book is good but not as fulfilling as a book the author has spent time developing his deepest thoughts and insights.
