If he can't woo one of the most eccentric bluestockings of the Ton within the month, he can kiss his hard-earned fortune good-bye. But he's always thought love a wasted emotion and marriage an inconvenience at best. And oddly enough, Lady Sophie Wolcott seems unmoved by his charm....

When Sophie learns her beloved orphanage is in imminent danger, she will do anything to save it. Even marry a ruthless rake who takes what he wants in business and pleasure - a man who's everything she's always feared most - but whom she reluctantly begins yearning for.

Then Sophie becomes the target of a killer lurking from the dark shadows of Devlin's past. And they find not only their lives in jeopardy but their very hearts.

EXCELLENT

Really well done first book. Now going on to book two. One of the things I liked best was the fact that Sophie NEVER doubted him. So refreshing to have them both actually believe in each other as they fall in love. But Sophie's steadfastness was a very nice turn. Highly recommend. Justine Eyre was great.

SO SO Good

I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this book. I was worried about being too sappy. It was INCREDIBLE. I listened to the whole thing in about two days. The characters are incredible. The pacing was good and I struggled to pause the story for even a second.

Good story & Great Narrator!

This was a fresh version of the historical romance, one that I didn’t want to put down and couldn’t wait to get back to. The characters were believable and likable. I’ll look for more books by this author, and of course Justine Eire could read a dictionary and I would enjoy it.

Couldn’t put my phone down!

I absolutely loved this audible book. It was my very first one. The suspense, mystery, drama and don’t forget the romance of this story had me from chapter 1. Didn’t have a clue who the murderer could have been. Even at the end when it was revealed, I was surprised. Everything I enjoyed in a good book. I completed the book in 3 days, although it would have been 2 days if the holidays/family visiting from out of town, didn’t get in the way. LOL. 5 stars all day. Can’t wait to listen to the next one.

I knew this would be excellent if Justine Eyre was narrating the book!

Well written, believable, GREAT story. This book had the perfect blend of intrigue, mystery, humor, and romance. The beginning was the “hook” with Sophie’s antics. Then the complex story evolved. I figured out some of the mystery, but was surprised at the villain’s identity.
Now that I have delightedly found a new author…..am excited to see what other books she has written.
P.S. As always, Ms. Eyre was brilliant!
