Publisher's summary

Two decades after the publication of The Black Book of Communism, nearly everyone is or at least should be aware of the immense evil produced by that devilish ideology first hatched when Karl Marx penned his Communist Manifesto two centuries ago. Far too many people, however, separate Marx the man from the evils wrought by the oppressive ideology and theory that bears his name. That is a grave mistake. Not only did the horrific results of Marxism follow directly from Marx’s twisted ideas, but the man himself penned some downright devilish things. Well before Karl Marx was writing about the hell of communism, he was writing about hell.

“Thus Heaven I’ve forfeited, I know it full well,” he wrote in a poem in 1837, a decade before his Manifesto. “My soul, once true to God, is chosen for Hell.” That certainly seemed to be the perverse destiny for Marx’s ideology, which consigned to death over 100 million souls in the 20th century alone.

No other theory in all of history has led to the deaths of so many innocents. How could the Father of Lies not be involved?

At long last, here, in this book by Professor Paul Kengor, is a close, careful look at the diabolical side of Karl Marx, a side of a man whose fascination with the devil and his domain would echo into the 20th century and continue to wreak havoc today. It is a tragic portrait of a man and an ideology, a chilling retrospective on an evil that should have never been let out of its pit.

Excellent -

This book connects all the dots. From infiltration in our churches academia in the media and Hollywood. Everything that you thought might be happening is happening and worse. Oddly enough there is hope alas. If we can call it out we can put an end to it. The unassuming woman wearing the pink hat at a woman’s right rally or the soccer mom supporting transgender bathrooms-probably have no idea that they’re supporting the long and storied Marxist and now neo Marxist or cultural Marxist agenda. Truth is so important. As Snowden said -bring down the veil.

Must read

An extremely comprehensive book on the principles of communism and modernism; as well as the motivations, beliefs, and goals of the founders and prominent members of those systems.

Hilariously Sarcastic

This book is an important book in understanding the current cultural moment in which we live. At times painful to listen to, this book exposes the lies pervading or society and culture. O'Brian's narration makes the book so enjoyable. his accents and intonations really help bring the characters to life.

Good vs Evil

This book outlines the source of Marxism and its destructive force in our beloved American, and even more importantly as a destructive force in Christianity! The Devil is the father of all lies and has used classical Marxism, and to a greater degree cultural Marxism, to confuse Christians to believe and practice non-christian principles . To act unwittingly as dupes to advance the Devil’s evil in the name of Christianity! This is a must read for anyone wanting to understand the evil of Marxism and explain to fellow Christians how it is not just inconsistent with Christianity, but destructive of Christianity.

Powerful, chilling walk through history

This was a powerful, chilling walk through the history of Karl Marx and his toxic legacy. I found it very helpful in interpreting the cultural chaos in which we find ourselves today. I would recommend this book for anyone with an interest in history or culture who wants to connect the dots and understand how we got here.

The narrator put a lot of work into the performance, making the different historical characters come alive and keeping the expereince powerful to the end.

As a pastor I appreciate this book

I’m my position it’s challenging to address cultural issues at times. We want to be all things to all people so that we might win some, but that does not mean we stand by and allow culture to be shaped by cultural Marxists. The kingdom of God ultimately wins, but we might lose some of our children along the way if we don’t present the truth of the agendas detailed in this book. I consider it a must read for Christian leaders.

A rare instant classic book.

A highly recommended book about the inception of Karl Marx's ideology, the efforts to intercept and corrupt men of faith in the United States and the end result all over the world but especially in the cultural field of our days. It is a great supplement next to Cleon Skouzen's book, "The Naked Communist".

Kevin O'Brien did a wonderful job reenacting accents, voices and characters. It added character to the book and elevated it. Well done!
