Publisher's summary

At 15, Chance Fortunato has seen more evil than most people ever will. Indentured by his father to the demon count Dulka, he's been taught dark magic and forced to do his infernal master's dirty work for eight years. But now Chance has figured out a way to defeat his master and free himself.

His new life with his mother and sister is far from easy, and freedom has its own perils. Normal life is hard enough, but even in a mundane-looking high school, there are paranormal threats from both sides of the mystical fence.

When his new mentor is murdered, Chance knows he is the only one who can track the killer down. To bring his mentor's killer to justice, Chance will have to fight evil on its own terms and discover if that makes him a hero...or a monster.

performance

whiel we are grateful for the time you put in ocationaly the voice acting can be destracting. attempting a girl voice while admerabule is lacking. The voice acting on the men was far superior. I do realize it is a male reader some of use would prefer a leser attempt on a female voice. I sound like a d*** and for that I apologise other then that the storyline and reader couldn't have matched up better. King chance and the teachers I rilly felt like I was there with them. the voice of chance was F***ING FANTASTIC. made him more real to me.

Surprisingly entertaining and good

I initially picked this up as I was in between releases of my other series. I was pleasantly surprised with how into the story I got and highly recommend this.

So this is kind off YA / coming of age story / with a bit of a dark twist. We have our escaped apprentice who just wants to be normal but the world just isn’t going to give him a break.

Instead of going Uber hero (thank god he is not) he uses a bit of good and bad to accomplish the goals of the story. It also helps that he meets a hot chick day one of his new school.

I hope everyone enjoys this book as much as I did!

Also writers need to get away from those pure lawful good types. Those goody two shoes really get on my nerves! On with the hellfire!
