Publisher's Summary

In The Deadline, Andy Friessen has packed up everything and moved his family two states away to Montana to protect his wife Laura, his newborn babies, and his stepson Gabriel from the threats of his mother. What Andy doesn't know is that they'll soon face a new threat, one he never saw coming.

Gabriel is sick, and a trip to the doctor confirms Laura and Andy's worst nightmare: Without a lifesaving transplant, their son won't survive.

What Andy doesn't count on, as he tracks down the young man who fathered Gabriel, as well as Laura's estranged parents, is that a whole host of problems are about to be unleashed.

Love this book.

This is such a sweet and tender romance. Not just about the love between a man and a woman but also the love of parents for their child, biological or not. The narrator is very good.

In her darkest hour she found her strength

Andy Friessen is a very Dominant male, that has a tendency to make his young wife Laura doubt her abilities as a wife and a mother. However they encounter a life threatening illness and through this turmoil Laura finds the backbone to stand for what is truly hers, and made her adversaries relent. The name Deadline is a very apropos name for this story, and I’m anxious to see where the author takes it next. Valerie Gilbert did an excellent job narrating, she gave life to the multiple characters.

The Deadline, decision between life and death.

This story portrays many emotions: love, hate, caring, betrayal, stubbornness. On one hand, we see a person, Andy, who loves his adopted son as his own and go to any length to save him. On the other hand, we see grandmother of this boy who due to her stubbornness almost causes this boy to die. You do not have to be related by blood to love someone. There were a lot of characters in the story and narrator did a great job by giving different a voice to every one of them. She was good in adding emotions to the voices of characters as well.

The Deadline

Most of us could only imagine having a family member try to take away our child. Of course any good hubby stands up for his wife and gets them away from a bad situation. Only to be forced into a different one. Dealing with a rude Dr., to stubborn/neglectful in laws, childish ex's and a precious little boy fighting for his life. This story is an emotional rollercoaster. Nice job on the narration!

Love this author's work!

It was supposed to be a new beginning, but then something totally unexpected and devastating happens. It humbled this proud man, that was capable and in control. It showed how vulnerable they were, and how they also needed others to help. Great, Great story!!

The Deadline

This is a wonderfully written story about about the lengths a parent will go to to save their child. Andy has moved his family to escape his toxic family. As soon as they arrive at their new home, the unthinkable happens. As they scramble to find a close match and a transplant donor for Gabriel, Andy learns more about Laura's parents and and Gabrie's biological father. It is during the this stressful period that Laura begins to gain a sense of confidence in herself. I really enjoyed this touching story and found myself choked up at times and trying to wrap my mind around Laura's mother's actions at other times. Narrator Valerie Gilbert did a great job voicing each of the characters. I was given this audio book at my request and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion.

Andy and Laura's new beginning

Though this is the first audiobook/book in this series. One that continues the story of Andy Freissen and his wife Laura. Andy has moved his family to Montana , as far away from his wealthy and malicious family to have a new beginning with his wife and children. He married Laura to save her and her son Gabriel, but he’s now very much in love with her, Gabriel and their twin babies. When things seem to be settling down, Gabriel becomes sick. Leukemia has been eating him away and only a bone marrow will save him. But what happens when neither is a match and the only hope for Gabriel is his biological father or her family and siblings? The same parents that turned their back on the fifteen year old when she got pregnant. Doing so to save their face in the community. This is a journey with obstacles in every turn and one that will touch your hearts. Once again this talented author has given us a story that is very real and one we hope never affects us or those we love. I would like to add that the narrator did a wonderful job with the voices.

Wonderfully Heartwarming!!!!

A wonderfully heartwarming story about a parent willing to go through any lengths necessary to save their child. Andy and Laura are back with new struggles that test their marriage and emotions. Along the way they find a way to save their child but also discover an inner strength to overcome the past and also learning to lean on each other more than before. Andy and Laura are my favorite couple because they have matured and overcome so much. I really loved listening to this story.
